Do heavily watched items boost listings in the search results?

Just curious if items with a bunch of views/Watchers show up top in the search results. I know that newly posted items do but not sure for how long…

If you are talking strictly about search results.......

In Best Match there are dozens of factors that go into the ranking of listings, one of those factors is how much interest has been demonstrated by a listing. Listing Page Views and Number of Watchers are just two of those factors.

For all other Sorts in Search results (lowest price, newly listed etc) that do not factor in because the ranking simply goes by the criteria selected.

How much of an impact those factors have is unknown and is dependent of many other things.

One thing is certain, having a lot of Views or Watchers does not mean that your listing will always end up on page one. It might help move the listing from page 8 to page 6 or it may not move up at all.

Another thing that is absolutely true, no matter how many Views and Watcher or a high ranking in Best Match search results do not automatically translate into actual sales.

Correct on the watchers not always equaling a sale. We have a lot of them and they sometimes do not sell at all or for a very long time.

Our product line is usually up there somewhere but the sales depend on how many people are searching for those products. If traffic is down for that kind of buyer no sale. If it is the season of the year where these products do not sell, then maybe again no sale. So many factors involved with this it is almost impossible to predict.

I don't know for sure.......but "sometimes" the number of watchers show in search results and theoretically can "push" a buyer to buy on a one of a kind item........  No guarantees........

What @slippinjimmy  said.  It probably is in the equation, but how heavily it's weighted there's no way of knowing.  Back in the day they used to have a flame icon for really hot items that had a certain number of watchers.  If memory serves me right, it was 50.  Anyone know if they still do that?
