Do you realize that ebay takes their final value fee percentage off the sales tax also?

WHAT A  SCAM!!  WE ARE NOT ONLY PAYING FEES TO ACCEPT THEIR PAYMENTS, FINAL VALUE FEES ON SHIPPING, AND NOW ARE PAYING FINAL VALUE FEES ON THE SALES TAX BUYERS ARE CHARGED!!

The most recent Lions championship was about 60 years ago.

The most recent eBay fee increase was about 60 days ago.  (Apr 1; from 12.35%  to 12.55%)

If you are talking about the frequency of eBay fee increases, Tom Brady winning the SB would be a better comparison than the Lions winning the SB 🙂

Yes I know that too.  And I also know that when it was eBay & PayPal - sellers were paying  a total of 12.9% (10% eBay, 2.9% PayPal).  Now with Managed Payments a sellers pay 12.55% in fees + that dreaded 30 cents.

When you add on the 12.55% x sales tax, Managed Payment fees are higher than PayPal.

FVF increases are not speculation. It is only a matter of time. As pointed out by the above post, there was a FVF increase as recent as April 1, 2021.

Sticking with my  Lions comparison and it was 63.5 years ago when the Lions  won the NFL championship not about 60.  Just turned 13 at that time and listened to the game on our station wagons radio and was driving home after a successful day of pheasant hunting in the Thumb area of Michigan.

But speculation is just that speculation and speculation and a nickle won't buy a cup of  coffee except at Wall Drug in Wall South Dakota.  The price  hasn't gone up since 1976 that is when I last visited there.

No I'm not. It happened to me constantly. All my listings were always Buy It Now with no Best Offers. And eBay even sends me emails AFTER changing my listings to accept BO without my permission. If I wanted to accept BO, I would have set it up that way. And I'm not alone. Many sellers have had this done to them.

We know eBay adds Best Offer. Show us where they automatically accept half-price offers. That's the part that's misinformation.

Can you cite a legitimate reference for that? 

We owned and operated businesses in both the U.S. and Canada, and we never kept "a signifcant portion" of the sales tax we collected and remitted.  In a couple of U.S. states, we had to remit the entire amount.  In a couple of other states and in one Canadian province, we were allowed to keep a small fraction of 1% -- not even 1% -- of it to help offset our costs to collect and remit it. 

But no where, no time, no way, we were ever allowed to keep "a significant portion," so I'd like to see where you got the information that eBay does and that it does for each of the states for which it collects and remits, including states that normally take the entire amount.

    Ebay hiring the extra people to handle the massive nationwide state and local sales taxes FOR US relieves us of the full-time job of doing it ourselves. Remember, states nationwide who charge internet sales taxes are going to get their share of revenue one way or another. For Ebay to handle it FOR US and charge a small fee for the service is a fricking bargain.

   THAT is the way you should be looking at this NON-issue. Think about it and be thankful.

Where in eBay's communication to sellers, or anywhere on eBay's site, did they state they had to hire extra people to handle taxes as the reason for charging FVF on sales tax?

Yes, eBay adds best offer to listings without the knowledge of the seller. I am not aware of the auto acceptance for half price. 

If you have a different experience, it would be worth discussing that. 
Otherwise, you’re just spreading misinformation.

No business, including Ebay, could handle collecting and remitting payments to all the sales tax agencies across the nation (including UK VAT, don't forget), in addition to keeping up with a constant barrage of tax rate changes, legal issues, ongoing correspondence, bookkeeping and paperwork, without hiring a staff to handle it. It's an obvious no-brainer.

   My comment is common sense... do you have an official reference to cite that they just push a few buttons to handle the nationwide sales tax issue and all the work behind it without any extra staff?

   Ebay doesn't need to explain to us when they hire people for certain positions or tasks. We're not entitled to knowledge or details of all business personnel decisions or changes.
