Discounts and Savings? Where?

I sold a little sticker decal last month. It was my first sale in months. The sticker sold for a total of $6. Out of the $6 sale, 2.78 came off for shipping, 60 cents for ebay, and .59 for PayPal. eBay indicates that on this transaction I saved $12.40. Imagine that! 😄

Someone once said, "If you go to the store and buy something on sale for $4 that is normally priced $6, you didn't save $2. You spent $4. The only way you could have "saved" any money, would have been to stay home." 😄

Re: Discounts and Savings? Where?

Most sellers would mail an item like that as a letter for 50 cents, rather than spending the extra postage for First Class package with tracking.

Re: Discounts and Savings? Where?

JMO, but items like that should be sold at flea markets or yard sales.  Just no profit in them unless you are selling in a lot.  By the time you deduct all your fees and costs involved, and your time, you are losing money.

Re: Discounts and Savings? Where?

So you actually made $2.03 since the shipping was free to the buyer? Then minus packaging material.

How does ebay calculate that you saved $12.40 and why?

The $12.40 would be the listing fees that were not charged because they came out of the 50 "free".

The OP would get a defect on their seller dashboard, and could not be a TRS though.

If they calculated how much the 10% TRS discount is compared to how much the shipping difference would be though, it would probably be worth it to ship with a stamp.

Why? What kind of "defect"?

, and could not be a TRS though.

That's true and so what, several million sellers here doing very well and NOT TRS.

On another account I ship everything in regular envelopes with a stamp or two. My shipping upload is zero% and my on-time is 100%. Above standard, no defects. Tracking is not and has never been required to sell here.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

If you read below that line, you will see my other comments about this. I said it would probably not be worth it for them to get the TRS discount.

I did read below that line and that's why I made no comment on that part of your post. I didn't remove that part of the quote because I agree with that statement (in the OP's case a saving of less than 1 cent!) and it's worth repeating.

I'm not encouraging the OP to become a TRS. I'm just saying that they couldn't be.

Sorry, I don't think that we understand each other.

Blatantly incorrect. I sell 99.5% of everything on this account without tracking.

and could not be a TRS though.

This is correct. I am not a TRS, but I just hit PowerSeller.

Ok, let me share a screenshot.

I shipped one thing late, so I got a defect as seen in the screenshot below, which made my percentage go down. If the percentage gets lower than 95.00%, I would lose my TRS status.trsdefect.PNG

Late Tracking uploaded is a "defect" in the general sense of the word, but not in the strict evaluation way that eBay uses it in your  Seller Dashboard, to refer to your Transaction Defect Rate.

Re: Discounts and Savings? Where?

Well, once again you all run off the deep end when someone simply makes a somewhat humorous observation. Once again you jump off the deep end trying to take the poster with you to the bottom.

Can't you people ever laugh? Sheesh.. lighten up already.

..and you guys really should start your own thread for that arguement 😄 lol  ..later, peace.
