Delete Lots Of Listings

Does anyone knows what happens if we delete for example 100 listings, that they are over 60 days, in one day? Is this healthy for the account?

@coolections

I respectfully disagree. If you have 1000 items and sell 50 compared to if you have 100 items and sell 50 your sell-through rate increases 10x thus your listings will be higher in best match.

I meant no disrespect either.  But I assure you it is by your listings, not your account.  I am assuming you are saying "items", but mean Listing.  Each listing represents different items.  If my assumption is wrong, please let me know.

As sharing said, todays chat.

But I also said(as did Heidi) that seller STR has nothing to do with BM - just multi-quantity listing STR. So your question isn't valid.

@coolections

Here is a link for your information.

https://www.google.com/search?q=ebay+sell+through+rate&oq=ebay+sell+throug&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l4....

A percentage based on the number of sales divided by the number of clicks for a listing. For example, if 100 people click on your listing in search results and 1 person purchases an item, your sell through rate is 1%. (Example: 1 sale per 100 clicks = 1% sell through rate).Aug 13, 2014

Actually yes, you can delete a listing. After you end it... You have the option to relist it, sell similar or DELETE it.

That is a new one on me.  Where do you see this option, in what screen?  I don't see it in the Seller Hub nor do I see it on the listing itself, so where do you see the option.

And if you are using the correct E-bay terminology, you don't CLOSE a listing - you END a listing..

While you are certainly correct about "end" a listing, Ebay also uses the word "close".  So there is no discrepency here, the meaning is the same, but thank you for adding that so there is no confusion for others.

It's in Seller Hub under Actions (the same place it is on SM and SMP. I delete Unsold / Ended listings all the time. Especially after I've relisted them so I don't end up relisting them again.

@mam98031

Thanks for the info but did not need it as I already fully understand how a sell-though percentage is figured. Don't need some formula from a crazylister site; the name says it all.  I am talking about EBAY sell-through rate and EBAY best match hierarchy for sellers.

Heidi, Thanks. So the sell through rate is NOT a Best Match factor for a seller like me, who sells only 30 day listings of one off type items (no multiple item listings), is that correct?

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques

That is correct slight smile

@coolections

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you.  I do know you understand how the sell through rate is calculated.  But the information I supplied you also explained that for the search algorhythm the sell through is per listing, not account as you believe it to be.  That is the BM hierarchy as you call it.  It is by listing for sell through.

@mam98031

Not offended, just making sure you know I am good at math and know how to calculate. You can believe what you want but fortunately for me I know Ebay's way of moving sellers up and down the hierarchy ladder thus why all my items are always on first page and ahead of others. I rarely ever sell more than one item of the same thing.

Re: Delete Lots Of Listings

That is not my experience.  I have an item that sells, on average, more than one a day.  It is ALWAYS #1 or 2 in best match search for that item.  I have other items that sell rarely.  They do NOT show up highly in best match.  So to me, it seems best match placement depends on the individual item, not on overall seller sales performance.

In my other eBay store I see similar results:  ITEMS that sell frequently are highly rated by best match.  Those that do not, are not.

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

Re: Delete Lots Of Listings

I rarely sell the same items so maybe you could be correct as far as individual item sell-through. From my experience from selling "different" items, they ALL show up first page and most times at the top as my sell-through is higher than most.

Re: Delete Lots Of Listings

Can you do Sell Similar en masse or does it have to be one at a time?

Yes you can in the Seller Hub.

Go to the Unsold items.

Check the ones you want to do a Sell Similar.

Click on the tab above right above the list of listings that says Sell Similar.

It will take you to the next page which looks like any other bulk editing page.  Make any changes you need to.  Don't forget to make sure the quanities are correct.

Hit submit and away they go.
