Pulling my hair out here! USPS has lost 3 packages I have sent out in the last 30 days. 10 years of selling on here, I've never had this issue. I've refunded the customers and have only gotten reimbursed for one from the post office. One package was actually found AFTER refunding the customer, which they received but stopped communicating with me after receiving the item and being refunded ( imagine that). Anyone else having these issues? Trying to get just the postage I paid for the packages they lost is becoming quite a task in itself. All 3 packages were destined to mainly the east coast from the Midwest, so it wasn't the wildfires in California that affected delivery (as one postal worker claimed), correct me if I'm wrong but that's the wrong direction. Just frustrated and wondered if anyone had any words of wisdom for me!

Been there...
I had no other choice, I had to raise my prices to cover the losses.
This reduced my sales, my ebay business is a trickle of what it used to be.
The problem hasn't affected me since then, but I've kept my prices where they are.
I can't afford to lose money like that, if it means less sales.
One thing I do, is file "lost parcel" reports with the USPS, every single time.
Whether it helps I couldn't tell you, some folks swear by it.

In years I never had anything lost from the USPS going to other states...but I don't use tracking on everything.
If the item isn't marked 'delivered' in tracking that's a refund where it might have been delivered and it's one of those few dishonest buyers.
I ship a lot with tracking as well but never had anything lost...but I do take my items to the post office for a receipt on tracking and use the postage at the post office.

Assuming that you're shipping with tracking (yes?) and the packages show at least one in-network scan by USPS (Acceptance, at least), then those should be slam-dunk refunds for the sale price (up to $100) plus shipping, if you file your Missing Mail claim within the window of filing time defined for that Shipping method (Ground Advantage or higher) . I think you need to wait at least 15 days from the mailing date, and no longer than 60.

I would review how you are packaging and mailing your items. I am not saying you are doing anything incorrectly, but it never hurts. If mailing small items, make sure they are visible by adding bright fluorescent labels for FRAGILE, DO NOT BEND, etc. I put, at the very least, a FRAGILE on every package. Make your packages stand out. Use extra tape. Don't reuse old boxes, etc, that are at the end of their life. I use all-new boxes, padded envelopes, etc. Clear tape over the mailing address and half of the bar code for protection. I have noticed some USPS boxes of certain sizes that are supposed to be self-sealing are not. Tape over the flaps. I am a retired Postmaster of 35 years. If you want me to look at how you are packaging, just message me photos or questions. I have seen it all. I will admit, the quality of people handling the mail, whether Postal, contractor, or many others, is not what it used to be - IMO. And ALWAYS file an online ticket so problem areas can be tracked and hopefully addressed by Quality Control people. If all else fails, write your Congressperson with details, etc. Don't accept subpar service which you are paying a lot for today. Hold people accountable. Start with your local office - PM or Supervisor, then go up the food chain - District, Area, HQ/DC. They have a Consumer Affairs at each District also, or at least they did. DC has one also. Keep track of names, dates, phone numbers and emails. I wish you luck. Oh, and Postal employees have access to highly detailed reports on each tracking number. At any time while in shipment, they can drill down to the exact piece of equipment and location. You will be able to tell where the problems are. Hold people accountable.

I'm right there with you. I'm currently tracking 6 packages that are running late on delivery. 2 of them appears to be lost. I've never had so much trouble with delivery as I have had since January. I have also found that the "view tracking" on eBay doesn't always match up with tracking from the USPS site. I've requested missing package search but received no response.
I had one package that was to go to Jackson MS. It went to Jacksonville FL, then to Puerto Rico, back to Jacksonville, then finally got delivered.
Don't know if it's a regional problem or nationwide. I've had problems all over but mostly from midwest to the east coast. Driving me crazy!

I always ship with tracking, packages also show scans at each facility and then it either gets sent to the opposite side of the destination and drops off-no where to be found (destined for New York from Indiana but is scanned in California) or it is in B/T facilities and stays at that with no progress. Tempted to stick with UPS & FedEx and stop using USPS until they get it together. Package #4 today delayed 7 days so far and they don't know where it is🤦♀️

Thank you for the offer, I appreciate it and i may take you up on that sometimes. I'm a tape fanatic! I tape then seal that tape with more tape and usually one more time for good measure. Also, if using a polymailer I use bright neon colors like orange, red, pink...just makes me kind of wonder though with the enormous amount of buying and reselling of "undeliverable mail" or "unclaimed mail" these days...is this what is happening to my packages and several other people I've seen complain about this issue? Not accusing but sparking my curiosity as to what is happening all the sudden after 10 yrs of no shipping issues, I now have 4 issues in 30 days.

I agree it's within the Midwest to east coast area. I get better response times when I call my local post office the day after making a missing package search. They usually call back that same day

I've had to bring in my local Congressional office on a couple of lost or damaged packages. USPS claims is a joke. I've even had them tell me I had to bring the missing package into my local post office for verification. The Congressional contact seems to get their attention and resolve the issue. Usually takes two appeals to resolve damaged packages.

Well 4 years of Dejoys damage to the USPS sure sent it down the toilet ! And with 4 more year's of Orange Butterball 45/47 will just add more damage to the USPS , unless Butterball has a widow maker Heart attack or impeached after mid. terms .

distribution in Indianapolis is just stupid right now!
For me as seller, my packages seem to go out easy.
As a buyer, when packages come into Indianaoplis USPS hub, it is just total chaos.

I'm being proactive. I file the claim as soon as possible. Sometimes you get lucky and get the USPS check and package gets delivered

Just Google USPS problems. I've never had this issue until Dejoy in acted his stupid plan. It's him and not the packaging.

I spoke with one of the board of Governors and he even admitted it's a total mess in Atlanta, Louisville and Indy.
