Tell me how it is my fault that a package sits in the post office for a week waiting on buyer to pick it up? This is the 2nd defect I have received in the past month that is ridiculous. I sold a ring and a month later the buyer decided to return it because it "didn't seem real" and started the return process. Ebay sent a return label and of course charged me for it. After about 18 days they closed it because it was never returned- but I still have the defect. It seems to me that as long as we take care of our customers ebay needs to keep out of it. They should only step in if the problem is not resolved. Now I have NO control over when the customer decides to pick up their package, just as I have no control over whether the post office scans the package at every destination. Yet, ebay deems it prudent to give out defects for every infraction they can think of. I have always taken care of my customers to make sure they are 100% happy, but I'm getting tired of these "defects" that are out of my control. My rant for the week.

It ISN'T! :o( Sorry. You can try calling eBay - but good luck with that.

I have called eBay on this same issue in the past, and was told several times that they will only fix it if it means you would lose your rank status. I have many on my list even though I shipped out the same day in all but one case. All were shipped through eBay within the posted time, and tracking is automatically added as I ship all items through eBay. I don't worry about this metrics at all unless I go over, which has never happened. Don't waste your time on this issue unless it will cost you your ranking status. It's not worth the hassle.

Just wanted to update my late delivery that wasn't showing up as a defect ... well ... now it does. I guess the glitch is universal.
Looks like I'll be on the phone with Customer Service now and try to get it removed. Hopefully, my journey to the Far East Customer Service will not take too much time ...

Good luck, after the last time of contacting them about this for "defects" we got for packages that were shipped during the hurricanes. Their answer was to do nothing as we were not in the affected area (stated by cs) . . however the packages were going thru the affected areas.
No we just get defects for listings that have First Class mail as the shipping and it takes four days to arrive. That's a defect and too long . . . even though USPS clearing states 3-5 business days for that service.

I just want to chime in that I am seeing the same problem. I checked my seller dashboard today and found that I have 2 new defects for this metric, both stating "tracking indicates late delivery". I use 1 day shipping, and always cart my sales to the post office and get a scan at the counter. The tracking for both of these items indicates that I did that, and within my handling time.
Now, both of these packages were in-fact delivered late. It looks like they both sat in a USPS sorting facility for days before being shipped on to their destination. However, I feel that it is unfair to hold the seller accountable for this. I did my due-dilligence in getting the packages to the post office within my stated handling time. What more can be expected of the seller?
I have had my own brick-and-mortar business in the past, and whenever I got a question like "can you guarantee that I will get the shipment by Monday" I would always say NO. I can guarantee that I will get the package to the carrier with the appropriate service to get it there by Monday, but I can not make any commitments on behalf of the carrier. The carriers themselves don't even really guarantee the shipping times they state - only that they will refund you if its late and you follow up with them.
If you truly need something delivered in a certain time frame, then perhaps mail-order isn't the best option? I would be looking for a local source if this is what I needed to keep things rolling.

My defect disappeared the other day. I never called or anything. I figured I would just watch it.
Then it showed my information wasn't available but the next time I was able to check the defect was gone.

Call CS and get it removed. It's been stated by the blues that if the PO attempts delivery seller is not responsible if the item is not picked up on time.
@Anonymous We continue to see people meeting the handling time requirement getting tagged for late delivery in the shipping metric. The coding for determining the Late Shipment Rate needs correction.
If the handling time is met, the order should NEVER appear in the Late Shipment Rate UNLESS the seller uses the GD Door to Door program. It's likely that coding for the GD D2D was not done correctly and has resulted in the significant uptick in issues with the Late Shipment Rate being incorrect.

HI @dtexley3, we've passed along these examples and our technical teams are reviewing for a fix. We have discovered some issues related to handling time being recorded properly and are working to resolve this promptly.
