Tell me how it is my fault that a package sits in the post office for a week waiting on buyer to pick it up? This is the 2nd defect I have received in the past month that is ridiculous. I sold a ring and a month later the buyer decided to return it because it "didn't seem real" and started the return process. Ebay sent a return label and of course charged me for it. After about 18 days they closed it because it was never returned- but I still have the defect. It seems to me that as long as we take care of our customers ebay needs to keep out of it. They should only step in if the problem is not resolved. Now I have NO control over when the customer decides to pick up their package, just as I have no control over whether the post office scans the package at every destination. Yet, ebay deems it prudent to give out defects for every infraction they can think of. I have always taken care of my customers to make sure they are 100% happy, but I'm getting tired of these "defects" that are out of my control. My rant for the week.

I just went and checked my dashboard because Florida USPS has been really messed up lately. So I wanted to see if I was having the same problem. And sure enough I have a defect for item arriving late.
I have next business day handling.
Item was purchased on the 20th early in the AM. I was able to pack and ship the SAME day with tracking number and scan uploaded by that afternoon. It didn't get delivered until the 29th (it was first class) and I have a defect for late shipping.
That's ridiculous! So yes EBay is giving out defects if items are arriving late even when you upload on time!
Not a happy camper right now.

wrote:YES, as a seller you are responsible for a late delivery.
Example of what we have a counted against us. A listing with 1st Class USPS shown as the shipping.
Purchased and paid for on Jan 6 (Saturday)
Shipped on Jan 8
Delivered on Jan 12
So, why did you get a defect for this shipment, but I did not for a similar one:
That is a 6-or 7-business day delivery. Clearly late. But I have no defect, and I wouldn't expect one given the criteria I see on my seller dashboard.
So, why did you get a defect and I didn't?

It makes no sense. See my post #16. Yet a package that went out the same day Priority mail and took 2 weeks didn't get a defect.
Someone needs to look into this.
Can someone more experienced in this please summon someone who can help? Thank you!

This blog made me check mine and it is happening. Shipped same day and still got a defect for arriving late.

If I had the answers to ebay multiple glitches including their search . . . I could open a stand alone help site and make a small fortune off the woes of the typical ebay seller.

Two questions:

I used EBay labels. I gave the packge to carrier who scanned it. It had 2 scans that day for acceptance & arrival at PO

wrote:Im sorry but Im must disagree with you ellis61. I just received 2 defects from a package ( 2 auctions combined together) that was not delivered on time because it set in the post office sorting facility for 3 days before it was sent to its final destination. The package was shipped on time and was scanned when picked up.
I was told by ebay personnel what you are stating, but It was just proven to me that info is **bleep**.
Another example of a ebay determination that tends to discourage and not encourage selling on eBay.
Suggest that you contact ebay and request those defects be removed.

the ebay automated system sucks. It's pain in the butt because it takes time, but if you call ebay on an issue 99% of the time they will make it right for the seller.

In other words, the shipment shows up as a defect under this "Late Shipping Rate" metric, but when one looks down a couple of more metrics to "Tracking uploaded on time and validated", you are not seeing the same shipment as being problematic?
(I'm only surprised simply because it hasn't happened to me ... I've had late shipments, but because the tracking information was properly uploaded and validated, it isn't on this dashboard for me).
Same here. In fact, in December alone I had one package delivered late and two that sat at the buyers' POs for a week or so and my dashboard still has me with a 0% late shipment rate because I got all of them scanned within my stated handling time.
The late one: 9405509699937176453890
The two that sat at the PO: 9400109699938026173620, 9400109699939501210014

- I use eBay labels ... are the ones getting defects also using eBay labels, or are you using something else?
- The two who described their details got the defect with First Class ... but my late shipment was Priority Mail and didn't get the defect. Has anyone gotten this glitch with a late Priority Mail?
My two packages that sat at the PO for more than five days before they were picked up were both First Class.

In the past I have had late shipments show up on my seller dash board but eventually they disappear. The reason this happens is seller performance levels are establshed on the 20th of the month following the month that is being evaluated. For example seller performance levels for the month of Janaury 2018 will be established on Febraury 20, 2018. During this 20 day period some of these "glitches" get corrected by the eBay system. I don't know how but they do. But I know we have always met our 1 days handling time and shipped within 1 day or sooner if possible and will ship our late Friday purchases on Saturday vs. waiting for Monday.

Sometimes my post office doesn't scan my packages upon arrival - even though I have bought and ALWAYS use the 'DELIVERY CONFIRMATION - PLEASE SCAN" LABELS'. They do get scanned AFTER they leave our post office but then I get a defect for it not being scanned in time when I drop it off! (Even when it arrives on time!) :o(
I have also had first class parcels take TWO WEEKS en route! NOT our fault but we get the defects anyway as it isn't delivered within the parameters. What can you do?
