Hi folks

Can I cancel an auction if someone made me a satisfactory offer Thru an Ebay message and asked me to send him an invoice? there are no bids. 3 days left. I don't want to do anything wrong.

You don't send him an invoice; he is asking you to take the transaction off ebay, which can result in warnings and sanctions for both of you.

You can revise the listing to your agreed upon price, have him bid, and end the listing with him as the high bidder.

You could end the listing and relist as fixed price, immediate payment required, but I am afraid they would pick up the ended listing and think you agreed to sell off ebay, and earn a warning and/or sanctions for the buyer and you.

You can, but I wouldn't.

Most offers are from people who know the item will get more than they are willing to pay. I have never regretted turning down an offer.

Plus, ebay has been fussy about selling outside of the normal transaction lately.

Don't do it. Convert your listing over to a BIN with the price offered, and send them the new URL and item number, after you revise it.

Oh. I agree with Retrose. The item might fetch more. Check it out.

While none of your items look scamworthy, if it were me I'd go for the MIT yearbook. Bet there are some interesting names in there.

But there is a common scam where the buyer asks for a paypal invoice and then sends you a you've got money scam-o-gram and the seller will ship the item off without checking their paypal account to see that there is no money. That scam works because your paypal account is your email address.

I would do as Time suggests..........and I would put immediate payment on it.........

There are a number of scams wherein people try to get you to send an invoice from paypal and then send a fake "it's paid, ship now" email......... With immediate payment required on the fixed priced listing, you can avoid that problem.

I'm assuming it's the knife. An a lot of them have sold in the 300.00 range and are plain. I don't see any like yours with the designs.

There is no right or wrong here ad far as ending the listing and accepting the offer.

Generally I don't do it but if the offer is considerably more than I expect it would sell for I have done so.

If the item has no bids the easiest thing to do is add a Buy It Now to the listing at the offer price and let them click the BIN.

If you end the listing you won't be able to send an eBay Invoice, you could send a PayPal invoice but that would involve obtaining the buyers email address and the only way to do that would be proof to eBay that you attempted to take the transaction off eBay and they REALLY don't like that.

You cannot cancel the auction and "send an invoice".

You must modify the listing and he must purchase it.

And if you do that, I'll bet he never comes back to buy it.

thank you. But by modify are you saying I can change it to buy now or whatever? Doesn't that cancel it? If he doesn't come back that's ok I just want to do it right. I don't know everything yet.

Thanks. I'm just going to tell him to bid if he wants it and let the auction run out. Seems like the safest way. I'm a trusting guy, never gave scam a thought.

Better to be safe than sorry. I think I you really want the unique item, 3 days isn't long to wait.
