December will be a month of zero sales as I removed every listing. 8 sales in November did NOTHING to improve my life. Only add to the disappointment & failure of 2023. **** eBay & their favoritism of some sellers over others by burying our listing whether we pay for a store or not. I paid for a store to get appropriate space; not be stuck in a dim basement. This should make plenty of other sellers happy. Those who wished for more to leave so there is less competition. Happy now, @hartungcards ? lol Already at 5 sales on Marketplace for Dec. Probably be the 27th before I see that many here? No loss! IF I get really desperate for cash because other venues manage to, somehow, be worse than eBay, I might try new things. Otherwise, not going to waste my time or energy.

Never realized that much focus was required after items were skillfully listed. I mean, you would have to end a listing if it sold somewhere else. I cross list for the best sales I can obtain.
Sorry to hear things came to having to quit selling here. Moving on is your business and I respect that.
You will still come by and start random threads about how eBay is giving us small sellers the shaft, correct?
Just kidding, as usual. All the best to you @sakic92710 throughout the holiday season. Hope it is a great one for you.
I sure hope that was in jest. You can't list it and forget it here. Your items will get buried at the back of the line or just disappear from search. After a small amount of time, listings become stale and so does your traffic.
So.... That means constantly working with listings.
On one hand, it's sad to see all these sellers leaving. Lots of people have put a ton of work and money into this platform to make money. Yet the platform has consistently let them down and turned against it's own sellers with poor policies and decisions.
On the other, it's good to see that there are people willing to leave and not play the games. Lots of people here bow like eBay is their supreme leader, and gleefully take whatever poop sandwich eBay tells them to eat. Buyers aren't eating the fecal sandwiches, but plenty of sellers are. Buyers are leaving and it seems no one wants to really address that. Meh, whatever.

Marketplace - 7 sales since Friday (3rd day of Dec. just started!). No fees! It took the entire month of November to get 8 on eBay. Potential buyers - Marketplace = 1,000s locally. eBay = millions worldwide.

Kinda kills the claims that eBay has "millions" of buyers, so there is no other place to get more eyeballs on your items, huh?

For the boat @sakic92710 sails, I thought it might garner some extra change for chicken strips and slaw (inside joke), though he has made a definite move off the site., for now. Thought he was a lifer if I ever saw one.

I could not agree more. Pricing has to be checked and many times when re-reading a title and description, other ideas can come to mind for changes conducive to search and buyer appeal.

There are many of us who know how to make eBay work for them. No platform is the best of the best. Cross listing is a decent ticket, imo. Almost required for many sellers to succeed. All platforms have drawbacks. Sakic92710 has been having success elsewhere and folks here are glad to hear that for him.

Less than 20 hours ago, I placed a 1837 coin on Marketplace. Already has 355 clicks. Buyer today. How long would it sit on eBay before it got 10 views & maybe an offer of 60% less than asking? lol

Curious, did you list on .CA or just .COM? or both?

Mostly .com because I wanted to sell in US funds. At some point, I was using both more frequently. However, eBay dips into the % of the exchange rate, too!

I don't see this as accurate information - I believe you CAN get the visibility and sales you desire here - All you need to do is be willing to give the site upwards of 40% of your selling price in fees and I believe they will be more than happy to give you your fair share! So cough it up!

Well, I certainly get no favoritism and have had sales wax and wane.
I agree that IMHO eBay ought place more focus on localization, FB Marketplace is proof that localization can result in significant sales. At the sametime FB does absolutely the least possible to protect sellers or buyers, more scams there than can count but there goals are not for people be selling things. They've much loftier goals and the present sellers are simply "testers" per say, building the brand of FB Marketplace. FB looses money on it every single day.
Now why you would pack up here, well... Ok, upset. The fact is you get 250 free listings, sale or no sale its 250 free listings, nothing ventured nothing gained. If you hit yard sales or thrifts buy what people may want versus what you think you'd want. My lady knows a friend of a friend of hers who does nothing but hit thrifts and sales looking for decent China and Place service, stuff is dirt cheap and she sells it piece by piece and I guess does pretty well at it.

I see posts continually on our neighborhood next door site slamming the scams on FB marketplace.
The OP strikes me as a born hustler who can successfully navigate the pitfalls that may lurk. Probably looks at it as entertainment.
I also have a friend that does nothing but work estate sales and his thing is china. He moved to Etsy a few years ago. Buys all his plane tickets and bar drinks with the proceeds.
I was also surprised the OP left. Store subscription must have been up though the 250 freebies can be taken advantage of anytime.

I do not come across scammers on FB. The only annoyance is how many ask or offer then do nothing. My store was basic - month by month.

Roger that. Certainly one of the complaints I read on a regular basis. I checked out your area and it looks like you have a solid population to sell to. (Not sparsely populated) with Toronto not too far off.
I might try the same in the coming years for certain items. Would not rule it out completely.

I sold some stuff on there, riding lawn mower, couches, stove, snow blower, none of those fit in a Priority Mailer LOL.
I'd no problems at all but as a buyer, OH MY GOSH peep's trying scam me. I'd say about 50% the time and its always the technology stuff. I want a Meta Quest 2 Headset on the cheap to try with iRacing and welp, scam-a-rama-ding-dong. One fella', good deal, home theater receiver, two klipsch tower speakers (which didn't need). Looked ok, get there, Klipsch cabinets with woofer's (speakers) from who knows where in it... Nope. "But they sound great!"... Oh my gosh!
Sort of an on/off buying experience there plus there is the "I gotta go get" or "Meet to get it" or "They'll bring it to me" and well, ya' never know these days. For egg-sample I'd a Playstation 3D Headset for the PS/4 brand new, still sealed in its box. I worried about peddlin' that here and the dreaded, "iNad" (I know am being had) so I put it on FB Marketplace. Fella and his gal come pick it up and Hmmm... Beat to snot old car and both look like they two crack pipes away from becoming glass plumbers.
When Police Stations have parking spaces whereby people can transact, those things that make ya' go "Hmmm?"

Almost 1/2 of my sales are sent via mail so I have a decent reach. Much to Toronto or surrounding area. North to Ottawa, too. Kijiji gets some business out West, as well. Found a collector of tickets / stubs on the coast. Great to find regular buyers; while it lasts.

As long as 1 more pays, as many Marketplace sales in Dec. as I had in Nov. on eBay. 8 lol I guess I don't have junk to sell after all.
