I posted earlier about a buyer making a false claim on a 10k ring we sold them a few days ago. This same buyer has an open return request for a the item and we discover they have this item now for sale on Mercari using our photos from ebay. I stumbled upon it today. Same customer, has her name on the Mercari account same ring. This person has a total of 10 purchases on ebay and 3 sells on Mercari, a newbie infrequent buyer (scammer) and seller on both websites. The customer was reported to ebay for their false claim and we sent a screenshot of the item for sale on the message system here to the buyer. We also warned the buyer that they better send us back what we sent. Unbelievable what these scammers will do on here. We congratulated, LOL! THE BUYER FOR HER 300 PERCENT MARKUP ON THE ITEM. WE SOLD IT TO HER FOR LIKE 220.00. SHE HAS IT UP FOR SALE FOR 480.00 ON MERCARI. The item is fairly rare so IMPOSSIBLE for this to be another ring this person has to sell OTHER than what we sent them.

Your explanation is specious. The person IS a scammer and is attempting to scam this seller. Scammers run scams and sometimes they are successful and sometimes they are not. It doesn't change who they are or what they are doing. These sellers are in the process of being scammed.

It's OK, I don't require you to agree with me.
Even the OP has more recently said the buyer wasn't "scamming" them.

The buyer made a FALSE CLAIM THAT WE SOLD THEM A FAKE 1OK RING. Then went on to sell it as an absolutely 1OK ring. YOU don’t do that to sellers on here. They send back damaged, they get 50 percent back on the purchase. They had the ring up for 3 days. I called them out on their fake claim. OOPS, you just don’t do that. You let these kind of buyers walk all over you I guess. NOT ME.

CORRECT. Rugerskick. Somebody said to mr oh my goodness this person is now going to damage my ring because I called them out on their lying behavior. Ya no so what? Principal to me is more important that the value of this little ring that I sold.

Yeah, I don’t beat around the bush with somebody doing something like this. It’s one of the reasons they continue with this behavior on here on to the next seller with a different ID.

I think that this would of been a excellent opportunity to of just collected all of the data possible, even buy something from them on Mercari to nail down that this is the same address and then sit and wait, if the same ring is returned then you have a crappy buyer with nothing that you can do about it but if they send you a rock back then you file police and mail fraud reports and they would have some really good evidence

To me this had all the potential to be a complete loss for us anyway with a buyer making a false claim. In considering my response to the buyer, no matter what, was the right thing to do. How this turns out is irrelevant to me, whether I get nothing back, a damaged item back etc. The point is, this could happen REGARDLESS of what I said to this buyer. At least I stood my ground. Best of luck to all sellers on here dealing with this kind of issue.

Curious.....why would an experienced scammer file a return request so quickly if they are trying to "flip" the item while they are in possesion of the item? To maximize your odds of 'reselling' the item, whu wouldn't they wait like 28 days to file the INAD?
That would give them a lot more time to try and flip it.....or are they just that stupid?

They are a novice. LOL!!!

How are none of yall considering the fact that while a return is open, THE MONEY IS ON HOLD??? So say she waited until the very end of her return window, and then when it didn't sell for crazy money on a dying platform, she would send it back, and the funds would go back to her. Who here would be okay with that if it caught on and started happening more, or happened on a higher-dollar item? I don't know about any of yall, but I am not in the business of loaning out stuff for almost a month FOR FREE while someone sees if they can sell it for more.
Hel-LO!!! That is called a SCAAAAAAAMMMMMM-uhh.
EDIT: Loaning out stuff AND paying for return shipping because they falsely claimed INAD!

I would ask them for pics of the listing on Mercari. Did you try that?

Aside from the weird SNAD return that they opened, if a buyer knew what they were doing and consistently sold at a profit I wouldn’t mind them “stocking up” on some of my wares. It’ll sure beat all the buyers who have my “items on hold” by treating it as a free clothing rental or buying all sizes I offer only to choose one and return the rest. I didn’t say “my funds on hold” because they will never be my funds when they just end up returning my items within the 30 days.
I had a buyer who would sell my item at a profit then buy from me and gift it to their buyer. One time they filed for a return saying “my buyer is returning it to me” as the reason. While I snarled at that, the guy still continued to buy my items after he sold it to someone else. Meh.

I screenshot their listing on the website, has all the info. We sent that in the message system here.

Yes, I would have been thrilled for this buyer if they could sell what we sold them for 480.oo bucks when we sold it to them for 220.00. I quess I foiled their plan because it’s possibly coming back. Return in progress. What we get back? Who knows.
