Customer says they have video of defective item but cannot load it to eBay message. They asked for my email to send it to me. I don't mind making an email just for this case, but I want it uploaded through eBay in case there is something hinkey about it. That way I can point back to it if I am thinking it is a scam. Plus I don't feel like scouring policies to see if ebay says I can hand out my email in the first place.
So can they upload a video? What do I tell them to do?

Have you asked them to upload photos instead of a video?

No, won't help. I need to see the massage gun doing what they say it does. But thanks.

email addresses cannot be passed back/forth and will be blocked when it's shown in a message. Videos cannot be loaded. Video or pictures are not proof of anything and not accepted as proof of anything since they can be doctored, a video/pic of the same but different 'thing' etc. If you allow returns, just tell them to open a return for refund.

After payment,
- email addresses,
- phone numbers,
- secret recipes, etc.
can be passed back/forth and won't be blocked when it's shown in an eBay message.
Send @pirates_hand a video hosting link e.g. YouTube in eBay Messages, not in outside email.

Theoretically, if they did send a video or pictures of a defective item to you, which they are not required to do to show damage, (unless it is for you to troubleshoot and not for "proof" of damage) they can still file a not as described case without proving anything to you.

Once a sale has taken place, of course contact information can be passed between buyer and seller.
Buyers do not have to send proof of damage or faultiness in order to get a refund. Ebay will allow it. This is one of the risks in selling here.

A customer doesn't need a picture or video of a defective item.
All they need to so is say "it's defective".
You are then forced to accept the return, pay for return postage, refund the seller when you receive the item. If you don't accept the return by X amount of days, ebay will refund the buyer with your money and they can keep the item.
Good luck and stay safe.

eBay will not look at their video, and will not consider your opinion of whether their video is "hinkey" or not.
If the buyer files a dispute, you have a short time to decide whether you want them to
(a) return it for refund and you do not get a transaction defect;
(b) get a refund without returning it and you do not get a transaction defect; or
(c) get a refund without returning it and you do get a transaction defect.
(Note that (c) is what happens almost certainly if you refuse the dispute and ask eBay to step in)

Not anymore; email addresses are blocked 100% of the time, before, during and after a transaction.

When did that change? I was refunded for a missing order that eventually arrived. I had the seller send me his email address through eBay messaging, and I sent him the PayPal. This was only a few months ago.

Ask them to send photos instead. (If they say they can't then they are bluffing).
Get pics of item as well as outer box (w/tracking # on it) and your packing materials as well. (You will need if you make an insurance claim). I believe ebay looked at the seller's photos when they resolved case in my favor. Ebay would not view any photos that I offered to send of returned item (which was used when I sold a new, sealed item).
I had a buyer send back a different item and there was a clue in the photo they sent to me which I didn't notice until I got it back (he just showed a corner of the item). Ebay did not refund seller, thankfully, but I am glad to have this proof as I did file police report (I have proof that the item he sent back to me was in his possession).

It didn't; we're being gaslighted. Just sent
- email address,
- phone number,
- secret recipe
via eBay Messages to a never-replies seller in a paid transaction.
Everything went through; no warnings whatsoever. What a massive waste of misinformation.
