I sold an item in March of 2020 and the customer just(1/26/2021) sent me a message stating the part was just now tried for the first time and found to be defective. They want to return it or at least have and exchange.
Do I have to worry about any issues if I say no?

Not on eBay, the window in 30 days so you're fine there. Not in PayPal because that window is 6 months so you're fine there too. Unless the buyer paid using their own credit card then they may be able to place a claim via that route. If I were you, I would be very gracious in my reply. State the window has closed and that you must abide by the policies for this platform as you are a seller here. See if you can offer them any other advice, depending in your knowledge for the part issue. Wish them the best and move on. Best of luck to you....

No issues with eBay or PayPal, maybe if they used a credit card and they are able to do a Chargeback.

I think most credit cards limit them to 6 months for charge backs.

I just looked at the e-bay return policy
It states; A buyer can open a item not as described case no later than 30 days after receiving item
According to that you should be in the clear
10 months is a long time for this buyer to bring this to your attention
Give e-bay a heads up on it
Hope you are okay with this

There's no reason to contact Ebay, there's nothing they will do.

10 months, are you kidding me? they bought that item. its theirs and nobody is going to say otherwise except the customer. wish i could buy things and return them with that kind of time period. only time you can do anything with that much time out from the sale is if it has a lifetime warranty

This is why people with real issues can't get through to Customer Service.

You can say no if you want. They no longer have any recourse with eBay, PayPal, or their credit card as too much time has passed. Only if you want to be a good seller. Why wait nearly a year to use something.
Example last week I went to replace the ink jet cartridges that I purchased last September. I always keep them in stock so I never run out. The whole set was defective. I know better than to try a claim, but I do know who I purchased them from. I won't buy theirs again.

No.
If you really want to go out of your way you can explain that the window for returns/exchanges on this site has long since passed. I wouldn't offer them anything or do anything else at this point.

Why this comment as Kengiftshop's opinion is true. eBay won't do anything for the buyer this far out and the seller doesn't need to take any action unless they choose to offer great customer service. But we don't know what was sold or what kind of defect. Perhaps if it were a Real issue it would be worth pursuing.

noticed you have a 1974-s united states proof set listed at $250 or best offer you are trying to sell. the item is a $16 value max. if thats not greed id like to know what your definition of it is. disparaging older people the way you did, well lets just say, dont throw rocks if you live in a glass house
