I listed a few thing just now, AUCTION style, and there is a make offer button on them. I didnt think this was possible, but I can't even remove it.

Yes.
eBay will add "Make Offer" to new Auctions if the Starting Price is higher than eBay has determined the going price for that item to be. "Make Offer" will come off the Auction after bidding starts.

That's not a valid explanation. All that is is babble.
Make Offer has absolutely no place in an auction listing.

It sounds like the eBay agent knew all about it and explained it in detail. We may disagree with the new feature but I think it has been explained officially now.

The agent was in babble speak mode to get the caller off the phone and log another "successful" call in under whatever their SLA is for solving problems.

I agree that BO has no place on an Auction.
What concerns me about that CS response is the "overpriced" according to "trending" prices.
This sounds like the same algorithm that is used for the Underperforming list 😞
I have a Villeroy & Boch Persia 14" Oval Platter listed. There are no others listed.
RL's price for this same platter is $149
The platter is 14x10 and weighs over 2 lbs before packaging...over 3 packaged safely for shipping (double boxed, etc)
I have it listed for $78.50 (currently on MM Sale 15% Off $66.72) with free shipping.
The eBay "suggested" price is $23 with free shipping ... with no actual comps to show me ... where the heck is that price coming from, seriously??? On what are they deciding that my item is "overpriced"??
$23 would bareley cover Priority Shipping to Zone 8 😞 I would be in the red if I used that 😞

Just incredible. eBay is determining the prices of sellers' merchandise now? This will further just decimate the collectibles market, and make sellers get mad at and block buyers making offers because the seller may not even realize they are 'soliciting' offers. This in turn will create more BBEs and drive more buyers to other sites.
How eBay. Did they even bother announcing this anywhere? Wait wait don't tell me...

They probably compared it to a dollar store meat platter.
Or most likely, a chinese sellers meat platter.

eBay hasn't announced this and most of eBay staff don't know what it is yet. But it is here and it is real.

Utterly implausible, since it has appeared on auctions with a $1 starting bid.
