Constructive Criticism

Hi, I'm a new seller who has been working on my current few listing that I have up at the moment to get a hang of things. I've tried to take some good pictures and have titles that are suitable for the items. I sell men's clothes at the moment. Any constructive criticism on my listings would be greatly appreciated, I'm just trying to learn the do's and don'ts of good listings and take in any feedback. Thanks again.

You can find my listings  Here  if you would be interested in critiquing them.

True story, got a return last month.  Reason - Item is to nice and price was too good.  I was floored.

Wherever you go, there you are. Please remember, when you are asked if you are a god, you say yes.

I agree on accepting returns.

The point is to have friendly Terms of Sale.

A No Returns policy is not friendly. It discourages communication about problems (even if the problem is that the buyer just doesn't like it).

If you accept Paypal you give refunds. If your (guest) buyer uses a credit card you give refunds.

The only real questions are : do you want it back for resale? and who pays for return shipping?

This is business, not personal.  Most people are honest.

Encourage questions BEFORE purchase.

And buyers love Free Shipping-- and most do understand that the cost of shipping is included in the asking price for the item.

You will get Offers and that's fine, but be clear if you accept an Offer that shipping is not part of the offer.

And to be sure to read any terms the buyer has attached to the Offer before you accept, because if you accept, that means you accepted those terms.

You are in Rocklin?   Considering we just moved out of Rocklin, this makes me very sad.

If you are planning on selling clothing for a while-Buy a dummy.  The clothing looks so much better that way.

Your photos look fine and your pricing seems to be competitive  so other than that I can only repeat  the suggestion you've already received by adding measurements .  Measurements are important . Although I raised two sons  I'm not an expert on men's clothing  so not much more I can add . Except I've been asked politely not to buy them any more clothes  😞   Tulips

Sounds like you did an awesome job raising your two (very polite) sons.

Some of this may be repeated from what others posted above as I did not read through everything:

1. Add fabric content and garment care instructions

2. Get a torso mannequin- they make ones that have hanger tops and there are a lot of options here on eBay

3. Add more photos- some of your items only have 2

4. If there are any flaws- pilling, stains, holes, smells, etc- be especially mindful to note them.

5. This may seem like a redundant task, but repeat information from the item specifics in your description- things like size, brand, color, etc.

6. Learn more about shipping. I see a really high shipping cost on your t-shirt that should easily ship first class. Your neon hoodie shows a lower shipping cost than your basketball t-shirt.

7. If an item has a UPC on the tag enter it in the listing- it will help you with placement in external search engines.

8. Add measurements!

9. Auction-style isn't popular for common clothing. Research the items your selling on eBay- use search filters for Sold and Completed to see what's selling and at what price point. Set a buy it now price, and if you choose a higher price you can add the best offer feature.

10. Consider accepting returns. Clothing can have fit issues and not accepting returns can turn buyers away.

Cassini is not Google or even a Boolean search so you need to fiddle with your keywords to determine which ones are the most important to your potential customer.

ADIDAS Mens X Reigning Champ Jacket Size M New Black Track

What they say is the first 4 words are what ebays search focus' on, so I would rearrange like so:

Adidas Mens Track Jacket

No one is searching for X unless you are an algebra teacher

Oh yes, that moment when you are no longer qualified to buy something that will 'look nice' on your grown sons...LOL.  I know *exactly* how that feels Tulips. Raised 2 (polite) sons myself. innocent

Eh?

Well I've heard all kinds of excuses for returning an item, but I've never heard that excuse before.

I have to give the buyer top marks though for coming out with a unique excuse.

And they USED to like how we dressed them when they were little , geesh ! I tried my best to explain that just because they're young men now  doesn't mean that  I no longer maintain the  very strong instinct to put clothing on my offspring . This last Christmas was a big  challenge ,, but I complied  . 😞   Tulips

You should copy and paste their '' review''  and add it when you relist the item. 🙂  Tulips
