There is a Starbucks Hawaii coffee mug that has been selling very well for me.
Apparently the mug is no longer being made/sold and is very hard to find.
I was checking out my comps today and found a seller who posted a picture of the price tag!
Why would anyone do that?

Yep if it is rare or out of a low production it could become a collectible. The item in the most original form will be worth more. Always leave all tags on.

@inhawaii I sell the been there series for my state, sold 400+ when I look at other peoples listings, there are some who photo the bottom of the cup with the price/UPC sticker still attached... but they are all asking way more then I ever sold them for... not sure if that will change anyone's minds on purchasing, but the price they are asking. Starbucks sups are very collectible, and some are always in demand... but supply is the issue. Like many, their stuff has been stuck in customs and ports and so the prices have gone up for the in demand stuff. I myself have none left, I sold approx 30-35 last month and that's it, they are gone, none to be had, I talked to a few starbucks managers and they all said they are having issues getting them again, most were surprised they even got the holiday cups in already coming out this coming week.

Maybe asking the seller, directly, would get you the answer you seek.

I actually appreciate finding that out! I have a few sitting in my storage unit that I haven't gotten around to taking pictures of and listing yet, but it sounds like maybe I should get on that.

Yes. Their cups always do well for us. Especially the reusuable cups.

a hairdryer will heat the sticker and make it easy to remove

Yeah i would have no problem leaving the price tag on of these were vintage or even a few years old, but these were selling in stores here as recently as last week. Some moron (me) bought them all up. Cleaned out every Starbucks on the island.
They were selling well for me at $36. I just marked them up to $40. I wanted my inventory to last me through the holidays.

yup, i do the same, but they are gone, none in the entire state atm (again), but yeah, that is the average price range I sell them also... some people try to ask a lot more...and they are the ones still sitting on ebay, no one is going to pay $100 for a cup.

You mean you had the NERVE to sell an item for MORE than what you paid for it? 😉

Don't get me wrong, demand is not on every cup/mug they have/had...just so I don't send the wrong message here. Specific cups/mugs however do and always have a demand. Been dealing these for years so I'm pretty up on what is or isn't worth peddling. @inhawaii has a unique instance because the hawaii mug/cups are always in demand only worth doing if you can get them there. This is why when you see the limited edition ones for Disney they are always priced high, because they sell out fast when released and collectors want them.

Suggest they go learn about the TVM6( the time value of money) and see if they want to pay that! Do these people believe if they were to buy gold they should only pay what the seller originally paid? Probably! Some people are really that stupid.
As far as original stickers my sister started tearing the original clearance prices off Star Wars boxes from my mothers collection pulling the packaging paper off with it. She only got to one before I almost strangled her!
Last year had a lady question a price saying "well your mother only paid X for it" and I told her "well, she may have even gotten it for free!" you think I'm going to be here every weekend all summer clearing her estate to give it to you for free? She got the point. and was very pleasant after and the customer who overheard surely didn't question any prices...LOL
I've also been known to tell people what I paid for something has no bearing on what you're going to pay and that usually ends that nonsense.
