Community Team ---- Fall Seller Update Question

devon@ebay kyle@ebay elizabeth@ebay kayomi@ebay

Well, it's that time of year again---when, in the interest of transparency and seller engagement, I make my perennial request for ebay to tell us in advance:

1. Will there be a Fall Seller Update this year?

2, And when will it be? so that we can make our plans to be around when it launches if we want to.

Last year's Fall Seller Update was announced on Sept 27th, so presumably we are in the general time period right about now.

Thanks in advance.

devon@ebay  I appreciate that. Can you tell me who I need to contact to discuss why the Community Team has its hands tied? SOMEONE is responsible for this rule, and that's the someone who we should be talking with.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques When it comes to things that we share here on Community or any of the public platforms that we are visible on, there is insight and information that we are allowed to share publicly and other things that are internal. We do our best to share what we can and understand that somethings, no matter who you may talk to from eBay, cannot be shared publicly. We appreciate yourself and others that contribute to Community on a routine basis and we will continue to give you as much information as we can!

Devon,

Re: Community Team ---- Fall Seller Update Question

Thanks devon.

Can you at least tell us WHY the date for the Seller Update must be held under wraps?

It has never made any sense to me.

ebay presumably wants sellers to get the Update information (and so do we who inevitably have to answer questions here from people who haven't read the Update, and come here shocked by some Update change). I'm sure ebay CS gets a lot of those questions, too, and one way to reduce them would be to let people know the Update date in advance. Maybe even mention some of the changes in a general way to drum up interest, so that more people actually read the Update. (Surely you guys have noticed the enormous decline in Update Q&A sessions, attributable to too few people reading the update and too many restrictions on how the Team can respond to questions)

You are right to note some of us contribute regularly to the community, but many have left because it has become more and more an exercise in frustration, with so little cooperation from the Community Team (NOT the team's fault, I understand that).

Effective communication is a two way street. I remember when ebay (briefly) seemed to embrace that, with things like "Mondays with Marnie". Now, we don't even have Monthly Chat anymore. The podcast is gone, too. At a time when ebay is losing more and more sellers to competing sites, ebay is strangling seller communication...not a smart strategy.

ebay can do better.  And if ebay wants to be around to celebrate its 35th Anniversary, it is going to have to do a lot better than it has been doing.  Improving seller engagement would be one place to start.
