Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.
There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.
What is this all about - an I in a test group?

Hey lets just do away with description. If seller wan to tell you more baout there product then let them pay more for the space. ebay can sell that space for ads so that buyers will see that ad and go to that company website and buy the same items that the ebay seller is selling. ebay needs to find out why buyers are not buying. Yes ebay loves the big box stores and sellers from China. You can say that is wher they more their money from maybe yes maybe no. I do not belive that bb stores or china sllers pay the same rate as other sellers. One way ebay can even the field with china sellers for u.s. sellers is returns that cost to return an items to china will cost the bay the same as it cost the seller to send it. If a seller from china paid $10.00 to shio a item to NY. Buyer need to return item buyer would only have to pay $10.00 if cost more than $10.00 to return seller would have to pay.

On the flip side, there will be no more possible SNAD cases to deal with if there is no description or Seller's Notes or Item Specifics. How could a buyer disagree with something that is not able to be put in the listing. Will buyers be held accountable for clicking? Not a chance.
So if there is no description, how can an item EVER be SNAD? If not described, then no SNAD.
Yup, wishful outside-the-box answer, but it is a very realistic one on our side.

Helloooooooooo!
Ebay is a private company (publicly held) not a government agency. They have no obligation or resposibility to anyone except their stockholders (currently at $56.47 and a Market Cap of $68B, P/E of 1,094) ! End of sentence.
They can change anything, anytime, anyhow, without any user's permission! If they want to kick anyone off for any reason, they can.
If they decide that the new minimum monthly sales should be $10,000 and anyone not meeting that criteria will be kicked off, they can.
If they decide that all blue eyed men will be kicked off, they can. The only exceptions are the anti-discimitation laws.
Simply do no use ebay if you don't like the way it works or their new user interface or their policies.
NOBODY IS FORCING ANYONE TO USE EBAY!

Speaking of which - I know we've looked at some big box sellers, anyone checked to see if our Pacific rim sellers are being hit with hidden descriptions as well?
Yup, them too.

I have not done one.
I am so torn to list or not, i see the difference in the listings i have right now up, i don't have the watchers i normally do.
So, tomorrow 9 days to go on this test.
I am sure my listings will end tomorrow with less bids, less money.
How fair is that to do this to me? That i already know people overseas dont see our items anymore unless they click on "Worldwide".
Do they know this fact? No. It took me a long time to figure that one out.
Did you guys know this? Bet a lot of you didnt.
That started when they implimented the charge for UK to see your listings. That is why international sales plummeted overnight.
Now, i got a ton of people in a test who will pass my auctions by.
It's enough to make you just throw in the towel. I know i am losing money here with all they have done to take away, i see the difference just
from the last auction what this test has done. Just like i seen the HUGE difference when they changed listings to hide from international buyers.
So, do i go a week without selling? if i do, i won't be buying anything either. So, i lose, ebay loses.
What to do?
ebay: Not content with driving sellers away, this new moronic move is guaranteed to drive buyers away.
A helluva way to run a railroad.......

We pay the same amount of fees as everyone else and deserve to be treated by Ebay the same way they treat, oh let's say - their Chinese sellers. Sellers here have every right to be angry about this "test". We pay to use the site. It would be a big difference if we were listing here for free. Every seller that pays to keep Ebay afloat should have a say. The reason my non profit is still afloat is because I treat my employees like partners, not like nooses around my neck.
"eBAY does not need thousands of "small" sellers who actually cost more in maintenace and aggrevation than eBAY collects in fees. Less trouble and less cost to keep the bigger sellers."
To imply that small sellers are a burdon on Ebay is a great big slap in the face since we are the ones who got Ebay off the ground in the first place. Maybe you didn't mean your post to sound so nasty. At least, that's what I'm hoping.
"Snappy, How can you disrespect another human being so as you throw insults at Jeff through this whole post? How can you sleep at night?"
You don't think your post disrespected all the small sellers on Ebay? Maybe like Snappy, we're all tired of busting our behinds trying to make a living while the powers at Ebay sit around thinking of ways to make it even harder.
I'm not saying anything else here about your post. Maybe this miserable winter has finally gotten to me and I've snapped, but, your post wasn't something I should have read to start my day. Have a blessed day!
Thr problem is that prior to 2008 small ebay sellers were "valued customers." Since jd took power, we were reduced (in his eyes) to "noise." Something to be brushed aside and ignored--or ruthlessly removed.

Nope. The seller would have to be able to prove that his listings were part of the "test." And once the test is over, there will be no way to do this.

I'm with you. I hate it. LAME.

I meant that when and you know it will, this ridiculousness becomes policy. Today's glitch always becomes tomorrow's policy. You can't read it or find it or live by it, but somewhere, it is there.

Yup, wishful thinking. 😞
True story here. Lots of feedback potential buyer. But, dreading any additional undeserved defects from this "enhancement". See screenshot below.

I believe that Jeff said it was buyers that the test was geared towards if I am not mistaken- if so, how could a seller prove anything? GOTCHA!!

Exactly. FAIL/FAIL for sellers...

Please, please tell me this is something that will be "fixed". To view a description on my computer, I have to click on "see full item description". I am afraid buyers won't see this and think I haven't described my item at all. This started a couple of days ago.
The description opens up in another window. Sorry, this is just not good.

Sales have fallen off a cliff (not that they were great to begin with) since this "test" was started. I also have had a series of questions with an "accusatory" note from potential buyers asking questions that are clearly stated in the listing, many before I even became aware of this "test". This has clearly cost sellers a substantial loss of business and revenue. Also, as George stated above there will be no way to verify if a SNAD case is opened up as a result of a buyer purchasing something and claiming any flaw was not stated in a description.
Jeff stated up-thread that a seller would not be held accountable if the SNAD was opened for a reason that was clearly stated in a description........so just what pray tell should one tell the CS agent if this was to occur? Go look in community under "such and such" thread? I once tried to relay to a CS agent that revised feedback no longer counted as a defect......this was in the period of time AFTER Jeff announced this in weekly chat but before it was actually written into the policy page........After I explained where and who had stated this, I was told they did not know OR care who this "Jeff" person was and they would follow the written policy.........the end. Are we to really believe we won't get the "call CS" answer when a problem from this might arise.......yeah ok...........
