Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.
There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.
What is this all about - an I in a test group?

My listing and every listing I have checked are back to full description.
The "CLICK TO SEE" box is gone when I check in Firefox or Internet Explorer

Then you must not be part of the test or are using a PC and not a mobile device like a laptop or phone. I still get the click here bull. I pay good money for an Ebay store and if this is going to be the norm, I'm canceling that subscription. Who needs it?

Forgot to mention and I see someone did concerning photos/other services.:) thank you
Sellers that use other services for photos are really damaged by this.
At least as small as mine are on that first page, the buyer can see that there are more photos. (They do not/will not enlarge on that page from what I have found so far)
So anyone using other services, bells/whistles, photo storage, in their listings are going to be having even more of a problem with the latest
"Good News" from ebay..
How many folks are going to click if they see only one photo and nothing about the item?
I would recommend using the "seller condition note box" to copy/ paste your entire description into if possible and make sure to do as many item specs as possible.. Make up some new ones, for condition, policies, whatever etc..
I think this beta is "rolling" not an opted in deal, kinda like rolling black outs are thought to work..:(
Need to go polish my tin hat..:)LOL it is a bit tarnished from use...

First thing this morning I had the CLICK TO SEE in MY auctions on my desktop PC
A little later my auction and others had changed back to normal without the
CLICK TO SEE box on my desktop PC.
Earlier today, even Ikea had the CLICK TO SEE box and not visible description.
From what I see mobile has always been messed up.

Cheryl,
I just looked at 5 of your auctions. They were also back to normal.
The full description was showing without me having to do anything.
It is interesting that things changes for me, but not you. Maybe
it is regional. MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE, who knows with ebay.

Many buyers have already reported backing out of listings that seemed to have "no descriiption" thinking the seller didn't post one. I prepare my listings in html wuth embedded photos. Wonder if that will ctrlV into the condition box? LOL.

Over on the buyer board people are complaining that the Make Offer button does not work on the mobile app. So, to extrapolate Jeff's comment, this must mean that soon the Make Offer button won't work on PCs either.... Nice!

I don't think so as I recall, as I do fiddle around once in a while. Shipscript would know.
The way it appears to me is if you use any extras/ other services that are not ebay "issued" you will have many more problems, less views and of course less sales. 😞

Now we know exactly why eBay suddenly decided no text on pictures.
EVERYTHING these people do seems to be directly designed to force a crash and burn.

They would be better off having the processes WORK CORRECTLY across all platforms.

I just stumbled upon this today on my listing and it was confusing, not user friendly and I hated it. I use Auctiva and at first I thought I made an error when I listed. Then after taking a look at my other listings and seeing the same thing, I realize something had changed. Once you do find the button to show the details, a small window opens up and does not show the listing as a full page, but in sections. This might be ok when viewing on a phone and I realize that Ebay states that the majority of sales made are through a mobile device, but NOT EVERYONE SHOPS USING A MOBILE DEVICE!! Customers are used to clicking on a listing and seeing a full page with the description and pictues open up, not something where you have to find the button to get more information. I feel this is a detriment to my business and I am hoping enough sellers complain and they put the format back to the way it was!

EBAY JEFF: If you visit this thread again would you please provide some insight?
If buyers do not click to read the description will said buyers lose their ability to file SNAD's against the sellers? In other words, if they try to file a case against a seller but did not read the description, the SNAD option will not appear and they would have to choose another reason to return the purchase?
How will this format handle listings where the seller offers a "percentage off 2 or more items" or "free shipping with a $$ purchase" promotions? I believe this information appears at the top of the item description. Will sellers have to include promotions in listing titles or pay for sub-titles in order to be seen?
We already pack as much info in item specifics as we can and ocassionaly run out of alloted space for the item specifics area.

What ebay evidently doesn't take into account is that laptops and iPads, etc. are mobile devices, not just iphones and their counterparts. I have an iPad mini and it works perfectly on ebay with no need for their really horrible app.

Would it not have been wise for Ebay to put up an announcement concerning this Beta testing to warn not only sellers but buyers that there would be an additional step involved to read the item description on some listings.
I know that not everyone follows announcements but a lot of us do. Hence - less outrage and confusion as those of us who read the announcements could have explained it to the rest on the boards and then you could have come in to answer specific questions - maybe without so much outrage.
We do tests all the time. All the time. And, letting people know that we're doing a test sometimes affects the results, so generally, it's not the best practice to announce the tests.
If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them if I can.
You previously let all of us know it was a test. That "affects the results" and is "not the best practice"
So, by your own logic, this test should probably just be ended immediately.

Jeff~
You are probably realizing now (if you haven't already) just how thankless your job can be at times. Certainly you can understand the frustrations many ebay sellers are dealing with every day so naturally many will take it out on you if we feel that we aren't being heard. The majority of us also want a fair and safe place to offer our items. Bad sellers and bad buyers do nothing to make ebay either of those. So I get the need for changes to protect the members who are operating honestly. Unfortunately whether or not you wish to acknowledge it, there are plenty of problems on this site. Some are policies which are blatantly buyer-centric and some are serious programming issues.
I can completely understand the desire to want a mobile application in order to increase the number of eyes on ebay. More buyers is always a good thing. But compared to other website mobile apps, this one can be glitchy and cumbersome to navigate at best. So I get the need to make the buyer experience as easy as possible. Don't you agree that hiding what arguably is the most important part of any listing would be more detrimental than helpful?
I'm not a programmer but to a layman like myself, it would seem the goal should be to make the app more like the regular site. Not the other way around.
