Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.
There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.
What is this all about - an I in a test group?

Jeff,
I realize you run tests all the time but as you can see from the number of threads started - this test is a big concern for people. Many buyers have already stated that they did not buy or bid on items as they did not see descriptions. This testing is having a negative impact on both buyers and sellers as seen in these threads. A bit of a heads up, would have been nice. Would sellers and buyers still be upset - of course - but buyers would take time to look for the link to click for a description and sellers contacted by buyers with questions about the listing could have also directed them to the item description.

Jeff,
I don't people really object to running tests.
I do not think they object to running tests to see how new features might improve sales.
I think they object to running tests of new features that they strongly believe will negatively impact sales.
How do they know it will negatively impact sales until they test? If it turns out to be negative, we'll drop the feature.

Jeff,
Do you guys even stop to think that the next few weeks are when people
are getting their tax refunds, and is usually the busy time of the year for us
sellers.
Why would you screw with the site during this time? We have a very small
window to take advantage of the refund season.
Major changes such as this one should be put on the back burner.
You couldn't pick a worst time to try this change.

Hi Jeff,
I am just curious if these teams ever get together and try and think of ways to "improve the sellers experiance" ? Now there's an ideal? After all, we are ebay's customers, they buyers are our customers. If we don't do well then neither does eBay. It just boggles my mind that they never consider this and how they can help protect us?
It might help if eBay would include a few randomly selected sellers to add to these teams when they start fiddeling with stuff. It is clear to me that the techies involed don't know a thing about selling on this site... or what sellers have to deal with.
A good idea would be to make the listing descriptions more prominant and accessible! How about that?
Yes, we involve customers in our plans all the time. From usability studies to focus groups to one on one consulations to our on-going Voices program, we talk to customers all the time.

Honestly, I'd be good if they just fixed all the glitches instead of rolling out new stuff
but that phrase has never improved anything before so ...

What a pain in the back side. I awoke to 4 people asking me to re-list an item because they couldn't see the entire picture!! These were seasoned buyers!!!! Waste more of my time answering than listing. Sorry, ebay it hurts you. Can't list, you can't make money!! How about asking your sellers before making such a STUPID change!!!!!

It has been brought up at least once in the Weekly Chat, long before February. Once should have been enough.

So, only one Weekly Chat, not every week for a year? Is that the revised accusation?
The Mobile team was on that Chat, so they're aware of the issue. I didn't recall it. I don't know what else to tell you. I don't recall every post from every Chat, especially a chat that happened almost five months ago. I'll send a reminder to the Mobile team about this issue.

No idea at this point, but I KNOW for a fact I've seen this same "click to see full description" button on listings before now.
It may be that it showed up when coming to an eBay listing from a web search, not on a search from within eBay itself though.
You may be thinking of the mobile app. It is on there.

It's definitely been "tested" before now.A click-through to get to the description was tested before? I wasn't aware that had been tested before this test. When was this test?
Jeff ... I don't know exactly when it was but I remember seeing this same thing about maybe a year ago where you had to click through to the description. It was a very fast thing ... I had it for maybe 2 days and then it went back to normal. At the time I remember thinking how stupid that was and then before anyone could make many comments on it, it was gone.

Thanks, Jeff. Are you saying you want something more recent? From my experience the "board" search is not so hot. I will do my best. I appreciate your response.
It's been going on since Dec 2011 at least: http://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/letters/blog.pl?/pl/2011/12/1323625748.html
I've seen it mentioned countless times on these boards, and I'm certain it's been mentioned in weekly chat many times. I'm looking as well....
I'm not arguing that it hasn't been happening. My statement was that I was not aware of it. The response was that I was being disingenuous since it's a topic that has been brought up on every Weekly Chat for the past year. I'm still waiting on anyone to show me where it was brought up in any of the recent Chats. I'll continue to check back to see if they were able to do that, or if they were just making that accusation up.
Thats not surprising.
Post 4....and your subsequent response in post 10.... "We are aware of the problem"
We have seen no resolution over this ridiculous ONGOING issue that you obviously KNOW ABOUT, yet the inept work force deems it needed to hide descriptions of sellers items intead.
Who assigns priorities in there.......is anybody running the show at ebay?

Jeff,
As an eBay employee, you are no doubt acutely aware of the Law of Unintended Consequences.
If this becomes the New Normal, here's my prediction:
The Condition box on many sellers' listings will simply say something like "Hey, glad you found my item! Click the description button down below before you even think about buying this!"
THAT should improve the Buyer Experience, don't you think?

When I saw it it wasn't because I came from a web search because I NEVER (repeat NEVER) do web searches for ebay stuff.
And it wasn't from the mobile app either because I don't even own one of those silly-phones or tiny-pads. I think they are stupid and annoying.
As a buyer/seller who only uses a computer I would be very upset to be forced into something like this just to please the mobile portion of the community.
