Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.
There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.
What is this all about - an I in a test group?

Thanks, Jeff. Are you saying you want something more recent? From my experience the "board" search is not so hot. I will do my best. I appreciate your response.
I'm looking for the backup to the accusation that "it's been brought up in every Weekly Chat for about a year now" and that "it's disingenuous of Jeff to state otherwise." See https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Click-to-view-entire-descripton-What-the-heck/m-p/23621864/highlight/true#M444758 for details.
So, I'd like to see a link to a Weekly Chat from the past few weeks where this issue was brought up. I didn't recall this particular issue, so I'm looking forward to reminding myself about it from posts in recent Chats. The link to the Chats is https://community.ebay.com/t5/Weekly-Chat-with-eBay-Staff/bd-p/weekly-chat
Thanks.

I don't know the specific measures this test is being assessed on, but generally we launch new features and programs in order to make the buying or selling experience easier and/or more consistent, and that ultimately leads to increased conversion.

I think I see why next week's chat was preemptively cancelled. Can't say I blame them. I wouldn't want to represent ebay with this stuff going on.
It was more likely cancelled to make way for the 2015 Spring seller update (which btw already has a board up)
eta: Just saw jeff's answer.
So you and Griff are the ONLY staff members assigned to host weekly chats these days?
Yes, our team is the only team that hosts them. We have brought in other teams as guests, but our team produces and hosts the Chats. It's been that way since we started doing the Chats in 2013.

The test is called an A/B Test, which means that some users will see the normal experience (they're the control group) and others will see the new experience (they're the test group). By running an A/B Test, we'll be able to see how the behaviors of the control and test groups operate during the same time period while looking at the same inventory.
I wasn't getting descriptions, left for 30 minutes to go get the car out of the shop, came back and descriptions were back. Just checked again now (another four hours later) and I'm getting descriptions on everything I check.

Please ebay, please stop trying to be Amazon and go back to being the unique marketplace you once were, selling unique items by unique sellers.
Do not take away our ability to describe items in full. If you do, then that takes away the individuality of the marketplace. Once that happens, we are just like every one else. Then, what reason is there to shop ebay?
Please ebay, go back to your original niche before it's too late.

It's been going on since Dec 2011 at least: http://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/letters/blog.pl?/pl/2011/12/1323625748.html
I've seen it mentioned countless times on these boards, and I'm certain it's been mentioned in weekly chat many times. I'm looking as well....
I'm not arguing that it hasn't been happening. My statement was that I was not aware of it. The response was that I was being disingenuous since it's a topic that has been brought up on every Weekly Chat for the past year. I'm still waiting on anyone to show me where it was brought up in any of the recent Chats. I'll continue to check back to see if they were able to do that, or if they were just making that accusation up.

Amazon shows us the dang descriptions without extra clicking and pop-up windows.

It's definitely been "tested" before now.
A click-through to get to the description was tested before? I wasn't aware that had been tested before this test. When was this test?

Jeff,
I don't people really object to running tests.
I do not think they object to running tests to see how new features might improve sales.
I think they object to running tests of new features that they strongly believe will negatively impact sales.

Hi Jeff,
I am just curious if these teams ever get together and try and think of ways to "improve the sellers experiance" ? Now there's an ideal? After all, we are ebay's customers, they buyers are our customers. If we don't do well then neither does eBay. It just boggles my mind that they never consider this and how they can help protect us?
It might help if eBay would include a few randomly selected sellers to add to these teams when they start fiddeling with stuff. It is clear to me that the techies involed don't know a thing about selling on this site... or what sellers have to deal with.
A good idea would be to make the listing descriptions more prominant and accessible! How about that?

It has been brought up at least once in the Weekly Chat, long before February. Once should have been enough.
September 24, 2014, including a link to a board thread about the issue:
September 24, 2014, another post provided links to 5 threads on the Bidding & Buying board about this issue:

That was the separate issue related to a glitch that happened on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning that we addressed the same day. That issue didn't have anything to do with the app.
I actually called that issue out near the start of this thread (you didn't quote the thread, so it was lost), but you can read that caveat here - https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Click-to-view-entire-descripton-What-the-heck/m-p/23621986/hig...

I don't see anything about an app issue with free shipping on that thread. Which specific post are you referring to?
If it's post #4, that was a one-day issue that we resolved that day. Is that the issue you think has been reported every week for a year?
