Changing category

I have not started selling here yet but I think I have had this problem in the future so I ask you about this.
Is it mandatory to notify ebay if we have to change the sales category in the future?

I have never had a problem changing categories of my listed items.   Unlike you I don't do time travel so you may have a different experience.

No, you can sell any items you want and in any category you want.

No, ebay does not require that you notify them of a category change in the past, in the present or in the future.

In the future, if you list same item in several categories you could be charged fees for each category.

Also, if item sells, you may have to delete item from all the other categories......not sure if they would be taken down when item sells.

It is  against eBay's duplicate listing policy to list the same item in several categories.

While it has never been allowed to list same item more than once in a category, eBay used to encourage listing an item in different categories to collect more fees. I remember the disclaimer they used to have to make you aware that you would be charged fees for each category.

When did that change ?

You can list an item in more than one category.........that's available on the listing form.  You can't have 2 of the same listing up at the same time.
