Anyone have any suggestions as to why the categories an item is listed in is not showing when I view an item. Sometimes I look at how others have an item listed to help me with how to list mine. This just recently disappeared. Thanks.

You are assuming it is a bug or something. I'm confident they are testing the placement.

No they did not.

Thanks for the info. Another stupid eBay change that wastes a sellers time. I use the search feature every time I have an item to list to determine the best category to list the item in. I look at the current items and the sold items. I use the category that had the most sales to list my item in. Being on top, I could see it immediately and move on to the next listing. Now, having to scroll down to the bottom of each listing, adds time to preparing a listing. Time is money, doesn't eBay know that? How can we get them to put it back on top? Does eBay ever listen to sellers' frustration?

I sure hope they can back this change out soon, but in the meantime I use the method below to get around it. Here is a copy/paste of what I posted in a similar discussion a few days ago.
When you are viewing the posted item, go to the lower left of the main picture and click on the: Have one to sell? Sell now
The screen that comes up will have the category to view. This method sucks though, as it litters your drafts folder with a copy of the item each time you do this!

I have been writing them daily to fix this, but today is the first I've found that it's at the bottom of the page. I even called customer service (not an easy task) to complain that it was missing, and after a long process, the phone rep said that it was no longer shown - even eBay doesn't know what eBay does, it would seem!

If you found a way to CALL Ebay, it is likely that you were not talking to Ebay Customer Service. Ebay hasn't had a Call Center since the Pandemic. There are several ways to contact Customer Service, but not a direct phone number. So be very careful to not get caught up in a scam.
On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

Sorry, but after viewing a number of ebay pages I don't see any with a "?" icon at the lower right. What am I missing? Sometime I swear I'm using an eBay that exists in isolation.

You often have to scroll to get it to show up, though not always.

But the pages are now Dynamic, and just keep addng more listings on the bottom. You'll never reach the bottom of the page before it reloads with more items.

LOL - I learned that the view of the right 1/4" of my 31 1/2" screen is blocked by my computer tower. I guess I need a wider desk! Thanks!

Well, perhaps i'll try to get to the bottom of a listing again, I was shocked at how far I had to scroll and never even made it to the bottom! If that is where "sponsored" items appear, glad I don't pay for that!!!!
