Quite! The comment will be removed, though, if the buyer reports it. Like the comment OP left for their previous buyer who, at a guess, filed an item not received case and won it.

You NEVER leave feedback like that with a positive and then a rant about ebay holding your funds.

I'm not understanding what your question is. If the transaction is cancelled, yes, the buyer is to be refunded immediately. There's no need to ship anything, so that's a non-issue.

Methinks OP will not be selling on eBay again, nor returning to this thread most likely. Probably for the best on the first part, though for their own sake I wish they'd have read some of the responses here.

The way I interpret your message is thus:

1) Your item sold

2) Buyer paid through eBay

3) You canceled the transaction because the funds had not been paid out yet

If this is what happened, then you have a fundamental misunderstanding about how eBay works.

I've shipped an item in the past prior to receiving payment, and never received the payment. I'll not ship again prior to seeing money in my account.

I intend to close my eBay account once this situation is put to rest, so the health of my account is not a concern. I will not do business in this manner,

It's a valid reason for me, as I have shipped an item in the past and never received payment. I will not be in that situation again. No money, No ship.

besides, as soon as this is put to rest I am closing my eBay account. I won't do business in this manner.

Only possible if you believed a scammer and the item never showed as paid in eBay's system. If you follow policy that's not an issue.

And did you contact eBay about not being paid? And what was their response? Are you enrolled in Managed Payments? If so, check your bank account. Around 30 days after you sold the item, you should have received your payment. If not, you should have taken this up with eBay before listing anything else.

As I said before, if you refuse to ship an item (whether your reason is valid or not), you need to cancel the transaction yourself. Otherwise, you will not be eligible for a credit for the eBay fees. eBay will charge your bank account or payment method for the fees, which will be at least $111. 96 for that transaction.

Presumably, the payout is being held, but that is not a valid reason to cancel a transaction.

How did that happen? Did you get a fake payment notification in email rather than seeing the item marked as Paid in your Sold items list?

If Ebay shows your item as paid and ready to ship on your Seller page then its time to ship. You can buy the postage through Ebay using the pending funds from the buyer. There may be a delay in releasing the remainder of the funds to your bank account if this is a high-profile sale but you should not wait to ship later if Ebay is telling you that the buyer has paid for their item.

(If you do manage to salvage this latest sale somehow then remember that it must ship with Signature Confirmation to preserve your seller protection against an Item Not Received dispute because the sale is higher than $750.)

Well they won't like that either as the refund will NOT come from their held funds. It will come from their attached checking account or credit card, while the money from the buyer stays on hold until Ebay finishes processing it.

If your transactions shows PAID by the buyer, but Ebay is holding your funds, the buyer has PAID as I described in my first post on this thread. Seller's having holds on funds is a short term annoyance, not long term. Once you get re-established as a seller in the next 2-4 weeks, things will flow for you as long as you are working within the rules of Ebay.

Ebay throws up all kinds of flags to a seller about shipping an item before it was actually paid for. So if you did that, you had to of ignored all the warnings.

Of course things are completely up to you. If a short term issue is enough to make you stop selling, then that is your right. It is likely the correct choice for you since you aren't really up on the rules, you'd likely get your account into issues sooner rather than later anyway.

Do you mean you shipped before the buyer paid you or before eBay transferred the funds to your account. If eBay has never transferred the buyers payment to you there has to be more to this story.

EBay is not for everybody and there are lots of alternatives these days I wish you all the best wherever you go.
