Cannot cancel order: printed label after cancellation

I have an order I cannot cancel. I have a "Buy It Now" listing. I received an order and the buyer paid. While I was purchasing the UPS label, the buyer canceled. I then printed out the label not knowing they canceled.

• I went to approve the cancelation but am told that "You let us know that you can no longer cancel this order because you already shipped it on XXXXXXX".
• I went to void the label but am told "This label does not need to be voided because we'll charge you only once the shipping label has been used." It's true that I haven't been charged.
• I marked the listing as not shipped.

I haven't shipped anything. How do I cancel this?

First thing to know, a buyer CAN NOT cancel a transaction.  They can request the seller to cancel the transaction but a buyer is not able to cancel any transaction.

You need to cancel the label first, then go and cancel the transaction.  You shouldn't have messed with the status of the transaction by marking it not shipped.

Thank you for your help. I won't mark it as not shipped next time.

I spoke with eBay. The issue is related to the shipping service I used. The eBay system won't let me cancel the order as UPS shipping labels purchased through eBay cannot be voided.

• Sellers are only charged for FedEx and UPS labels when the label is used. For this reason, there is no option to void them.
• As the label cannot be voided, listings using a UPS cannot be canceled after the label is purchased.

The eBay representative directed me to the a refund option, and I refunded their money. This handled the fees almost correctly. I lost $0.20.

You lost 30 cents.  That is the per transaction fee that Ebay doesn't refund.
