Cannot Use New Listing System for Lots of related Music - different artists, multiple titles, etc

I cannot list my music items anymore under the new system. Why? 1. Because it is designed for modern items with a recognizable bar code. Many of my items have the old shorter bar code or have European bar codes that eBAY does not recognize. 2. To save my customers money, I have always grouped items either by artist or by related category in bunches or 2, 3, 4, or less frequently more items.  That way I can save them shipping dollars. 3. You can only have one artist on any one listing even if you disable the bar code and the list choice is ridiculously small. I sell only rare items and frequently there is no choice for the artist(s) anyway.  They should have saved some of the old system by letting you disable the new one by deselecting the bar code option. 4. Why did they not try a Beta version of this new system first to assess seller reaction, or better yet, make it optional? 5. You can't use any of your old listings as templates for new ones because when you open an old listing it comes out in the new format, and same thing for existing drafts.

I hope somebody has an idea how to bypass this new system or I am out of business.

Thank you eBAY.

Enter "DoesNotApply" in the barcode field - Don't need UPC to sell, ebay many times does not reconize upc when enter it anyways.

2. To save my customers money, I have always grouped items either by artist or by related category in bunches or 2, 3, 4, or less frequently more items.  That way I can save them shipping dollars.

You can make a "Custom Bundle" check it in the specifics and then fill out (briefly) what it is, fully list the Bundle in description

3. You can only have one artist on any one listing even if you disable the bar code and the list choice is ridiculously small. I sell only rare items and frequently there is no choice for the artist(s) anyway.

Not so, you can enter as many artist's as need, enter them one at a time and then check the box for each entered - done with this various split releases.

4. Why did they not try a Beta version of this new system first to assess seller reaction, or better yet, make it optional?

Beta was new listing tool #'s 1 and 2 - New Tool #3 was implemented with no opt out option because they feel it's a done version - even though it's crud and is like everything bad from new tool 1 and 2 combined for new tool 3, but you can list and use it for everything you mentioned - it's variations people seem to have issues with.

5. You can't use any of your old listings as templates for new ones because when you open an old listing it comes out in the new format, and same thing for existing drafts.

You can use templates, there are few things in music category the new tool ignores for specifics in  templates so you have to manually enter those but the new tool works with templates. Some people, like me, have reported that drafts don't save when you save them... apparently not everyone is having that issue.

Instead of entering a bar code, write "Does Not Apply."  You may need to click a few times to successfully enter that statement; but eventually it will accept that notation, rather than a bar code.

Admittedly, eBay should have allowed this as a viable option when eBay designed the new listing tool -- but that's eBay for ya.

you don't have to use the barcode......just put n/a

I don't list in music, but it looks like there is an "add" box for artists name......and you can add as many as necessary......

I may be misunderstanding what you are saying, not much coffee yet.......

I don't sell music either, I am into old prints. There are lot of different printing techniques. I did want to take advantage of the + option. But the new forms does not remember that. Another clumsy thing is that when I start to type one of the printing techniques, let's say Lithograph, after I type Li...it suggests Lithograph, which is correct but when I click to enter it, it enters both, so I have Lithography and Li as a printing technique. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but for me, the item specifics part of the form is a big step backwards.

I I have 3 printing techniques, it shows the first on and then (+2). Also very stupid, in the old for I could see immediately which one I am using. Here I need to click to activate the scroll down menu. The form may be good for regular mass-produced items, for what I sell, it is not good at all.

Thank you for your suggestions. My old browser would not operate with the java script changes on the new tool so many of the options on categories were not present initially. I was able to get the tool to work by changing to Google Chrome.

Davy,

A Familiar handle for sure! I've purchased plenty from you. It was a browser issue. My Mozilla Firefox would not correctly interpret the new java script changes so I had no options present when I prepared my first note. Changing to Google Chrome enabled the options. It's still pretty clunky but I can make it work as long as they don't make ANY MORE CHANGES.

It was a browser issue. My old Mozilla Firefox would not correctly interpret some of the java scripts on the new tool so I did not see the option drop downs for the various categories. Changing to my Google Chrome solved the problem. It's still a clunky system IMHO.

My problem was that my old browser Mozilla Firefox could not decode some of the java script changes to the new tool. I did not have any of the drop down menus on the various categories. Switching to Google Chrome solved the problem, but I hate it as a browser, so I only use it for eBAY work now and also for Govt (State & Federal) which have ugly java scripts and won't work with Firefox. I like using Firefox for everything else. One just has to adapt. Changes come whether you like them or not.  Thanks for your input. It was appreciated.

LOL- the thought of ebay making code that is not compatible with the 3rd largest browser in the USA.

There have been many oversights with the design of the new tool- in order to simplify it, they destroyed its functionality to appease first time listers that may use their phone.   This of course make for a clunky and cumbersome mobile only interface on our desktops that slows down the listing process and ignores what where once held as industry standard listing practices and features.

But hey- thats cool- just ignore the needs of the millions of full time sellers that put effort into bringing traffic to ebay with their unique listings and great customer service and drive a far higher percentage of sales on the platform....... for someone who cant figure out the difference between a phone and a computer!

New listing tool is mouth breather mode. It is like the digital menu at McDonalds. Menu with words is not important, we need flashing pictures and a close up of a glass of Sprite with condensation.

i see... well Google Chrome is what ebay says they suggest the most, it's what I use, but Firefox is also used by a ton of sellers as well and should work also.

You don't need to use the barcode; simply enter "n/a." I'm not experienced in music listings, but it appears there's an "add" option for the artist's name, and you can include as many as needed. I might not fully grasp your message yet; I haven't had much coffee.
