Did you mean:

Cancel or Return

Got two items getting returned due to "doesn't fit".
BOTH buyers asked in advance if the items would fit their vehicle.
To which I replied "No, this will not fit"
   Bought them anyway.
Now I have another that I either have to ship out today, or cancel and take a hit.

Needs to be more "reason" options for cancelling, with no adverse impact for sellers.
The bad eBay days are becoming increasingly more frequent

Re: Cancel or Return

You should purposely send them the correct fitting part, assuming they told you their model and if you have it.

I hope you deduct 50% from the first two.

Good Luck!

@the-hook-and-the-loop
Every time I've tried to deduct on a refund, it goes thru.  Then I get a message the following day where my decision to deduct was reversed.
If I have the correct part, I send them the item number in my answer.
I usually don't have the part they need.  And if I did, it wouldn't be the part they purchased.
It's best to not try to out guess a customer.  Even if you're right.
Very frustrating playing eBay policy games.

That makes no sense unless the buyers are spamming a ton of sellers and are having a problem keeping track of the responses. Have you contacted them again to make sure they are aware? What does the feedback/transaction history say about the buyer? Is there a phone number where you can call the buyer directly?

Hope you find a way to resolve it without taking a hit.

Re: Cancel or Return

I did a 'refund' to a buyer as 'not as described' after it was shipped and received.

eBay 'ding' me an 'out of stock' instead for the refund.

That's artificial intelligence...so more 'reason' options...that won't help.

@redlinear

Was there not a difference a while back between "doesn't fit" and "doesn't fit my vehicle"?  The first would be a return on the buyer's dime, while the latter would be attended to by eBay?  I may not have all the details correct at this point, but would not a "doesn't fit" claim in this  require a buyer to pay to send something back as a remorse return?

That is very possible.  I guess I have never noticed the difference in wording.
I've noticed some "doesn't fit" appears to deduct the return shipping from the buyer.  And some I end up paying for the return shipping.   SO, you may be right.
Still, it increases my returns.  And I am paying the initial shipping.

@the-hook-and-the-loop for what reason would a seller 'deduct 50%'?? That is ONLY if the item returned is in 'less than' condition; and if it's abused, a seller will not be able to do it ever again.

Yeah,  seems to be getting worse.
Just seems like the FB marketplace mentality is taking over eBay

Re: Cancel or Return

It IS getting worse.
People don't read instructions any more, and I have to admit I'm bad at that too.

I often put measurement in the title.

I always put the part on a ruler and make it pix 2.

I still get "doesn't fit" complaints.

@ittybitnot
  I should have stayed home this week...ugh
 I'm looking at a "doesn't fit my vehicle" right now.  (I'm paying shipping both ways for this one)
AND the buyers explanation?
"I ordered the wrong brake line. The one sent to me in not damaged in any way. A return and refund would be appreciated as this 82 280zx turbo is a budget build. Thank you!"

I'd like tell him I'm glad I could contribute to his budget build and ask him if there is anything else I can send that he doesn't need

@redlinear

So sorry to hear this.  What I mentioned in my previous post, I never really studied in depth since auto parts is not my forte so to speak.  I guess eBay did away with their other "guaranteed fit" program as well, perhaps due to all the spamming of item specifics anyway?  so "it doesn't fit my vehicle" now means YOU sent the wrong thing according to eBay?  Auto-parts was one of their treasured "verticals" there for a while.  Perhaps it has been abandoned?

Next time someone asks "will this fit my vehicle" and you know it will not, perhaps you should put it as "No, it will not, shall I cancel the order for you?"   Then cancel at at buyer's request (regardless).
