Can we no longer file for faulty returns??

So is filing for damaged returns, due to buyers lack of packaging, no longer an option for sellers? I just got off the phone with a csr and she said, without asking for any proof, that they can't prove it was the buyers fault (yeah no **bleep**). I asked her if I can submit photos like the other 5 or 6 times I've filed for faulty returns and she said they've never accepted photos before. Which is 100% a lie. Is this a new policy? Do I just file with fedex at this point? Like how can she say they can't prove its the buyers fault without even looking at photos of the clearly terrible packing job the buyer did. I hate ebays customer service so much.

It's free returns now: eBay will cover up to 50% for your bad packaging.

If you offer free returns you can deduct up to 50% of the refund. Unfortunately if you do not offer free returns you will still be forced to provide the buyer the refund if it was a SNAD and then can appeal to Ebay. I would also report the buyer for abusing the Ebay MBG. That is uncalled for that some feel they can damage someone's item intentionally because they are made to return it, or are simply careless and don't care because they ultimately know they'll get their refund in full regardless. If Ebay doesn't provide you a courtesy refund then I would file with FedEx, I personally never use them but if they are anything like USPS and the packaging was inadequate then they'll likely decline any insurance request.

Actually, EBay is supposed to be cracking down harder on this. I’ve filed myself for a faulty return, adding pictures to the form, and been given my money back.

I’d call back and try another CS.

Although, how many times have you done this? Could that be the problem?

If it was an INAD return, doesn't really matter what condition the item is in when it's returned, they'll still get a full refund.

Basically, you would be correct.

As others have pointed out, if you have "free returns" (paid by you) policy you have some redress.  So after your front the money for the return, and that $1000 computer you sold comes back with a phone book instead of the laptop, you only have to refund $500.

@fa_8305

I am sorry, but I thought this was a seller who received something back that was packaged incorrectly by the buyer  and not how the seller sent it to the buyer to begin with? Maybe reading wrong, but yes, the seller can claim 50% of the sale if they offer free returns and it comes back damaged. Unless your reply is in sarcasm?  lolol. JMO.

Speak with another cs rep, you may get a different result.

That’s not true, either. My return WAS a SNAD for a dingy collar, but buyer packed the return so carelessly - crumpled and shoved in the raggedy torn mailer - that she snagged up that same collar (it was fine gauzy fabric).

Ebay gave me a courtesy refund and indicated they keep track of both people in these cases.
