Can not list items

At one time they had a nice site, But insist on progressively making it frustrating and hard to resolve issues. Now i find i cant list an item to sell because they are to thick headed to understand that some people who live in rural places don't have a street address ONLY PO BOXES even my drivers lic. Has just a po box on it. This has not been a problem in the past, I have listed things before with no issue, why now? The last time i tried to resolve an issue with chat they just up and ended the conversation half way through the conversation, and had to go through my payment provider to get it resolved. So if they don't want my business i will take it some where else.

If a seller cannot meet the requirements for a selling account on eBay, perhaps there are other online retail marketing sites that will accept a post office box as an acceptable address.

A street address is probably a requirement for "Know Your Customer" (KYC) guidelines established at the federal level to help prevent fraud.

Good luck with your selling, wherever you end up!

We have always had a PO Box but now federal law requires a street address on drivers license. Where do you live where it is allowed to have a PO Box? When we go updated DL we had to put a street address on it.

"Unfortunately, you can’t use a PO box for your driver’s license in any state. You can use a PO box as a supplementary address but not as the only address on file. The requirement for a physical address remains steady in all the states."

So people without street addresses are not people? I doubt that KYC guidelines require a street address. I think this is more of a eBay risk assessment that a PO Box could lead to scams. But as the OP pointed out, this is his address. If it is on his driver's license, I think it should be accepted. eBay should be able and willing to make exceptions.

The last time I had my DL renewed in 2020 they insisted I only have a street address on file at which time I told them "good luck sending me a renewal then". I don't have a rural mailbox where I live and only have a PO Box to receive mail.

When I signed up for Managed Payments here on eBay I was forced to change my registration address to a physical address which receives no mail so I hope eBay never tries to send anything to me in the USPS.

If my local PO has an address of 500 South Main street,  Elkhart, IN  46515........

Why can't I rent a PO box at that location and use

Their street address and my PO box #  for registration?

If I were so inclined.

Who's address did you use to get the PO Box?  The Postal Service as long as I can remember and I've a friend who's worked for the place over 40 years won't issue a PO Box without an address on file.  You don't need a rural mailbox, you do need a street address, if you're living off the grid than you're very limited.  Even to have a bank account requires a physical address, that's federal law.

All rural farm properties in Wisconsin have a number for emergencies.   I hope your house never catches on fire.

They will!  They sent my 1099 there and the post office handed it to me and told me not to address things that way.   The Debt State just wants to make sure they know where they live so they can kill you.

No, but if you do not have an address, you basically not do anything. I would bet the OP has a house or an apartment and that address should be used.

First, I would ask at your PO what to do.......

Here, rural PA, we have no mail box/only PO box.....but do have a street address.....  PO has told us to use the street address with the PO box behind it........i.e. 123 Main St #209.........

Frankly, I would guess there is a street address.....considering the possible need for emergency services......

OP is registered in Canada.

I doubt that any federal laws of the United States of America apply to him/her.

Wow. That's a stretch. I said nothing anywhere near that kind of comment.

Well, you'd be wrong about that.

KYC stands for Know Your Customer.

In order to verify your account, the following information and documents have to be provided.

Personal information

In order to verify your account, the following personal information has to be provided.

  • Your full name and last name,
  • Full home address (PO boxes and other non-residence addresses are not accepted),
  • Date of birth.

What any of us thinks does not trump the KYC regulations. Suggesting that eBay violate those requirements is unacceptable. The OP's driver's license requirements in Canada have nothing to do with the United States' federal laws with which eBay must comply.

That's the way it is in Oklahoma.

In the late 80's  they changed all the rural route's to a 911 address.

Have a great day.
