I had someone buy an item from me 10 days ago. They haven't paid and after about 5 days they stopped corresponding with me, even though I made sure to keep up with them. I cancelled the order today and was hoping to leave some feedback, but I don't see the option to do so. I know that buyers can leave feedback on cancelled orders, but can sellers?

You could have left feedback before cancelling but it would be a violation to say anything negative so there would not really have been any point to doing it.
Hope you have better luck if you relist it and sell again.
You can list it as 'Buy It Now with Immediate Payment Required" to avoid non paying buyers.
That's what i do.

Ok my apologies. I honestly had no idea.

I've left feedback on orders that I cancelled whether I did it or the customer requested it. It's possible that you couldn't leave fb because they didn't pay? The ones I left fb for completed the transactions.
I absolutely HATE the feedback rules on here. A customer recently sent me a MESSAGE through the feedback and rated it neutral. The morons put their personal contact info in it and requested mine so I had ebay remove it as it was clearly a violation, BUT, they leave the rating!!!!! I am sooooo regretting leaving them a positive rating, but I have no other choice now do I? I've been trying to rectify the issue with the customer and have sent a fb revision request, but so far nothing. Sigh...

I mean this in the kindest possible way, but I've noticed you've posted a lot of misinformation on the discussion board threads. No offense intended, but there seem to be a lot of topics about which you "had no idea."
We all make mistakes or have misunderstandings about a policy or procedure now and then--myself included--but I would really encourage you to do a little research before you post responses on eBay's policies and procedures. If others hadn't been here to correct your mistake, the OP could have easily found him/herself in trouble with eBay for posting a negative comment in a positive rating.

You didn't ask about this, but I see one other poster who mentioned it. I just want to make sure you're aware of eBay's new-ish unpaid item cancellation process that you can use to cancel an unpaid transaction after four calendar days rather than waiting ten days.
Here's a link where you can read about it at your leisure. There's a lot of misinformation about the process floating around the boards, so I'd encourage you to read about it for yourself.

Given the fact that buyers can ONLY be given positive FB, what kind of feedback did you want to leave exactly?

Maybe it's time (or past time) for you to read more about leaving feedback as well as some other things.

Thanks for letting me know. I just think it's really annoying that we can't leave neut. neg. feedback for buyers. eBay always supports buyers more than sellers.
09-20-2021 02:15 PM
Of course they do, where would we be without buyers?
09-20-2021 02:19 PM
That rule bothers quite a few sellers, but this is eBay's site,so eBay's rules.
And giving out wrong information doesn't change the rule.

I am aware, however the customer was still corresponding at the time and I didn't want to cancel it on them.
09-20-2021 02:31 PM
Haha, now that I think about it, you're only given neutral and positive as buyer ratings. I've never had a bad buyer experience so I never noticed that there is no negative option.
And I may start turning on that option from now on, so thanks for that!

eBay controls the feedback ratings, not the seller or the buyer.
There is NO neutral or negative feedback possible for sellers to give to buyers.

Okay, great! Just wanted to make sure. So many sellers posting on the discussion boards don't seem to be aware of the change . . .
I guess I was a little confused, since your first post stated:
"I know that buyers can leave feedback on cancelled orders, but can sellers?"
Strictly speaking, that statement is correct; however, the page I posted a link for (and encouraged you to read), states the following:
Guess I figured if you weren't aware that buyer's feedback would be removed, there might be other things about the policy and/or procedure you might not be aware of either.
