Global Orders

January is normally a strong month for me.

I have had orders from Brazil , the UK,  and Germany.

BTW I don't pay for placement in the UK or Germany I just give a shipping price when I set up my listings.

I've also had an increased percentage of US orders, which is Global for me here in Canada.

I dont ship international but do remember Europe is at war and their costing of energy is significant, inflation rates across much of Europe are far far higher than here.

Same here. Ever since they made the switch on the Global shipping program I have not had one international order.

I am seeing the same trend (on sporadic listings).....

so...i checked some listing that were previously on the GSP

The shipping options showed that I do not ship to that country.....

"contact seller' when I checked shipping options from the U.K. for example....

something in the automatic transition to this "new: international option is not working right....

I thought that they were replacing the Global international shipping with something called International shpping.  Maybe you have to sign up for that. I don't ship internationally anymore until ebay protects US sellers everytime a buyer opens a case because the item is in customs and they don't want to pay the customs fees. Once ebay protects the seller in those cases, I will use it.

I usually get up to 5 Canadian orders a month and maybe 1 - 3 Australian orders a quarter. The rest are usually questions if I will ship to them.

Haven't noticed a significant decline, but Canada is usually simple export rate (because it's cheaper). And Australia is a combination of simple export and at the time GSP. Don't think I've had a whatever the new process is since the changeover.

The Global Shipping Program does that now.

When we foreigners buy from a Seller using the GSP, our  cost includes "import fees" which are made up of our country's duty and sales taxes on imports as well as a small (~$5)service fee.

This has actually been a source of aggravation to us Canadians because until NAFTA was renegotiated* our duty and tax free allowances were only $20 Cdn (~$16USD) and were charged on almost every purchase.

Most (but not all) freight forwarders also handle import fees for their clients, stopping that scam before it starts.

It looks like the poorest way to ship internationally is by USPS directly, which offers neither of these protections, although First Class International Packet does offer tracking -- at least to Canadian addresses.

*US imports are now duty free to $150Cdn and tax free to $40Cdn.
