Can I sell something to one buyer?

A buyer purchased an item for me and after paying, asked if I had other items in that category.  I did and said which ones.  He made an offer for some of them that I want to accept.  I want to follow ebay rules... can I list the other items at buy it now and just for that person?  If not, what options do I have?  Thanks in advance?

You can set up a different ad using the buyers users name along with the ad for example if it was me; Special ad for davdavpav 3 CENT Plate Blocks .  And in the details of the ad all you have to say is what you agreed on the e-bay mail.

You can create a listing containing items the buyer wants to purchase.  It is not possible to create a listing that would only be available to your specific buyer.  Any buyer could find the listing and purchase it.

There are a couple of things I have done in the past under similar situations.

1. Set a time with your buyer for the listing to go live.  As soon as the listing is live send them a link to the listing or the item number of the listing.

2. Price the listing  crazy high and use the best offer option.  Share this with your buyer and tell them the price you will accept.  If any offers come in from any others buyers you can decline them.

Can I sell something to one buyer?

Hi, This happened to me. 1st, I wrote & asked them to let me know when they were on line.  2nd, I called e-bay to make sure what I was about to do was ok. They told me sure & to call them when we both were on line & they would help the sale go the easiest way possible. 3rd, all 3 of us did this & it worked great. PLEASE NOTE: This is when we had American CS Reps. Over a year ago is when I did this, do not know if they would do this now.

I used to do the exact same thing as this suggestion. For instance the title of my listing would be “item for lindalou2007”. It lessens the chance of another person stumbling onto the listing, Then in the description just treat it like a usual listing with your items and terms... I also insert the buyers name in the description too though.

We pretty much do as davdavpav suggests.

Title: Special Sale for ....

Description: As agreed.

Photo: some random pic that reflects the sale

We don't worry that someone else will buy it.

We've done this maybe a dozen times in the last decade. No problems.

And it shouldn't be a problem with ebay as it's clearly not an attempt to bypass their fees.

Good luck!

I do this all the time. Just create a listing that has CUSTOM ORDER at the front of the title. Tell the buyer you’re going to do that. When you get it listed, message the buyer that its listed and give them the item number, which they can easily find with a search. Other buyers know its not for them. Make sure your descriptions and photos are as complete as you would for any other listing. Great job for expanding your sale and building a following!

I stopped putting the buyer's username in the title/description for privacy reasons- I get the feeling eBay could warn a seller for that behavior if the buyer got upset and reported it.

I stick to something generic for the title like "custom listing"- then create the rest of the listing as normal.

All of what you said EXCEPT putting the buyer’s name/ID info in the title and/or description. A seller did that to me on a custom order and oh I did not like that at all. That title stays in YOUR feedback items! Example, if they’re a seller sourcing from you, they might not want their name in your item descriptions. (Although, I do know that a lot of sellers buy under a different ID, but not all do.) Anyway, just thought I’d throw that in as side comment.

That's true. Thanks for the tip. He he, in hinsight, I used to sell a lot of women's underwear too. I hope I didn't do this "special deal" with like crotchless panties or anything.

I do put the name in but I've always had a nagging feeling that one day you would buy from me! (I do understand). So far it hasn't happened.

The one extra thing I've done is to make those listings "private", the username is still there but nobody can see what was purchased because the Listing number is not available.

For a period I switched to using code numbers instead of of the username, switched back for no reason but your posts reminds me that going forward probably best to nit use the user id.

All the target buyer needs is the link to the listing, the additional information in the title was just for me.

Couldn't you just change the price on the listings the buyer wants that you both agreed upon. Then the buyer add each item to a cart and request a invoice for combined shipping or pay and you refund the difference after the label is purchased.
