How to get the total amount of paypal fees and shipping costs for the year

Coming towards the end of the year, is there a simple way on paypal to find out how much in fees I spent and how much in shipping I spent? I know i can download the whole years history and filter certain things but is there a more simple way of finding out fees and shipping? How do you guys do it? Thanks

In January, PayPal produces a handy 2-page "Annual financial Summary" Report that has line items not only for your total PayPal income but also for total refunds and PayPal fees paid. You can also run PayPal transaction reports on the keyword USPS to get your total postage purchased.

To get your total eBay fees, you need to open your eBay invoices in My eBay > Account tab > Summary. You can open just half of them, since each invoice includes the previous month's total at the top.

Go to PayPal, run a custom report for the year (or whatever period), load the csv file results into Excel (or Open Office....free) and sort to your hearts content.

If all your sales were paid via PayPal, all your postage paid for from PayPal and your eBay fees paid from PayPal then you will have all the numbers.

If you have received some payments or paid postage in another way you would have to manually add those in.

I do it the old school way with pencil and paper. Every sale I record the price, PP fee, shipping cost and Ebay fee, and keep the total running as I go. End of every year I add the twelve months together and there are my yearly totals.  I have another notebook that I record expenses in such as envelopes, ink, paper, etc.

Is a PayPal "business" account required to see/print  these reports? I do not have one, and am having trouble finding a spot to do reports.

eBay part is no problem. I can review my invoices there, and add/subtract OK.

I do mine like "sweet".  I use a red pen for a bit, then the black pen when I get my head above water on each lot that I have logged into my inventory,  but a printed report sure would make life easier when I hit the end of the year.

The Business level account does have more report generation options than a Personal account.  There are no additional fees, and the upgrade takes just a few minutes to provide some additional information, so I recommend that you upgrade your Paypal account.

Thanks.  The one that most interests me is how much I paid for USPS  labels.

What are the advantages to having a business account vs a personal account on paypal? Do the reports separate personal and business?

I go to this page and print out all the pages. You can choose payments sent, payments received, returns etc. Most of it is shipping, so I color code everything else. Then I type it into a spreadsheet.

Even if your PayPal account is not a business account, you can still run all of the same reports. Granted, the Individual account doesn't have "Reports" as an option on the top menu, but you can still access them by going to " https://business.paypal.com/merchantdata/reportHome# after you login.  Running the "All Transactions report for a set period of time gives you ALL transactions, including shipping costs, and you can download the report in a PDF or CSV format which is a comma delimited, text file that can easily be imported into the spreadsheet of your choice where you can sort the data by any field you wish.
