A buyer received their shirt from me and complained that the red wasn't as deep red as it's "supposed" to be. And mentioned there's a few threads hanging from the ends of the seams. They didn't ask for anything, just complained (which usually raises a flag with me).
So I apologized and told them to please file a return request for a refund to get their money back. The buyer says they don't want to go thru the trouble of returning it. They continue to add more complaints (width of shirt, thickness of shirt). I just stopped replying since I considered the matter closed.
But they still continue to send me FYI messages with even more complaints... (bad packing material, doesn't like how I folded the shirt, etc). Any way to block those messages?

I never found a way.

So I guess I'm stuck seeing this buyer leaving periodic messages complaining about the item. I wonder how long will he keep it up.

Yes, but no.
They still have a time period they can contact you because you have an active sale with them. After that time period if you have then on the BBL and have that checked in your preferences, you won't see them again.

Isn't a long time frame though? A year or two - something like that?

Hm... if that's true then I'm thinking maybe it's dependent on how long ago the listing was ended. I know that ebay only keeps listings records for 90 days. But the sad part is for this listing the buyer bought from, it's been live for years now. It doesn't end because I still have inventory to sell off. In order for me to truly block them I'd probably have to end the listing (re-list it again) and wait 90 days. But I wouldn't want to lose a good standing listing just for that.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ignore them without reading them. No big deal there

Sorry but you can't block those messages since you were in a recent transaction with her.

They are fishing for a refund without return. If you wanted to you could send them one more message saying return for refund. Then they can decide but don't give in. No return no refund. This kind of buyer behaviour is pretty bad and getting worse.

Don't end your listing, that won't make a difference. I would do what the other poster recommended, message 1 more time and say "if you are truly unhappy with your purchase, please return for a refund".
After that, do not respond again. Who complains about how garment was folded, or was that just for affect? lol

You cannot block the buyer from messaging you. But you can block them from buying from you. Just ignore the messages and delete them.

Had something similar happen to me: Sold a tack set and I saw in a buyer's note something about how the shipping was supposed to be free... Uhm. No. The listing clearly stated the shipping costs by USPS flat rate postage. I asked what they meant by that, the buyer didn't reply for a few days, finally did with My Bad, I Mixed Up some Listings... Well okay. I shipped it. Buyer gets it, complains for two weeks, maybe three about nit picky little things, finally claims it wasn't unused, it was covered/caked in horse sweat (No. It wasn't). There were a lot of messages from her that implied she wanted a side-refund, etc.
I just finally stopped answering the messages, told her if she was unhappy to please initiate a return, and after weeks of this nonsense where "Please initiate a return" became my stock response, she did it.
And then at the end of it all, she canceled the return requestand kept it. I guess she didn't think I'd call the bluff on returning it to me. I did, and offered a full refund ONCE I GOT THE TACK SET BACK in its original condition.
But yes, as someone else mentioned, they're fishing for a refund.

Yea I don't know either. They said they didn't like how I folded then rolled the shirt into the poly bag... so it looked more like small rolled yoga mat vs folded like a blanket. You would think rolled would be better to lessen the creases.
The buyer is definitely fishing since they never asked for anything from the start... and still continue to message with things they don't like about the transaction despite them already saying that they won't return it.

Unfortunately this could end in neg FB, even though you offered a return. If you want to open the can of worms just so this would be over, you could ask "what would make them feel better about this transaction" . Maybe for a couple of bucks they will go away, and no worries about bad FB.
Just a thought.

Yes, but throwing money at people like this is why they do it.
You're rewarding their bad behavior.
I'd take the neg if they left it, absolutely respond to it, and move on down the road. I always read negative fb for the sellers I'm buying from and I see so. much. just like this. Nit picky **bleep** negative feedback... and if I see a solid response, I disregard the negative fb and buy from them anyway. I've yet to be disappointed in any of those sellers.
