Can I ask Ebay to step in regarding incorrect negative feedback according to me

Hello ,

I received negative feedback because the buyer is not satisfied with the quality of the item.

I've sent him a few messages so far , but no response .

I am not sure if I have to call Ebay , because I can't find any option to contact them anywhere.

And can they do something , because I have a refund policy , but buyer hasn't answered yet..

Thank you for your help.

Negative feedback containing opinions about product quality are next to impossible to get removed, in my experience.  Try to work with the buyer to resolve their dissatisfaction.  Hopefully they will respond to your messages.

I once got a quality-related negative feedback a few years ago.  The buyer was pretty specific in his feedback about how the item failed to perform as expected.  So I did further research and questioning, and sought the advice of other tech-savvy associates.   It was agreed that the buyer could be right, so we dropped that item from eBay.  Shortly thereafter, we sourced a far superior quality item from a different manufacturer.

Since making that change, we had nothing but positive feedback and hundreds of happy customers.   The buyer ultimately wanted to revise his feedback, but by that time, it was too late.   So I had to live with that neg for a year.  But it didn't bother me too much, since that incident led to better opportunities.

It's one thing to get negged for the quality of a product you sell a lot of for quality issues but I feel it's quite another to get negged for a 1 off product that is new still sealed and 30 years old that the seller has no way of knowing the quality of and does not really reflect how that seller actually does business telling other potential buyers the seller "sells junk" isn't really accurate if they will most likely never find or sell that exact product again.

EBay will not remove that feedback. I would have not even responded to it as now it stands out AND the buyer can respond to your reply (what do you think he might say a 2nd time around, especially since you have been badgering him with messages).

I don't think you answered it poorly. A surprising number of customers on the internet are just Not That Bright, and it doesn't surprise me at all that someone would skip right to negative feedback before contacting a seller. I consider feedback like that to be an outlier when I bid on something.

If he does respond to it, chances are it'll be even more clear who was wrong afterward.

Note eBay says "Feedback is an open forum where members can leave comments about their experiences with their transaction partners", it says nothing about the product. Why does eBay shows product reviews on the same page then?

So you can go to a restaurant and order a steak that was infested with bugs. Don't complain, the service was good, but the product was terrible. Give the restaurant a positive rating so others will not know the steak was infested. There is no need for separate product reviews. The reason why they put it on the header is to make it easier for buyers to not have to wade through hundreds of feedbacks to find the "item" which they are purchasing. What if the seller only sold one ? The feedback about that one item would be lost and they buyer would never know about the product.  Again, feedback should be for the overall experience, good or bad.

At least 50% of the eBay's "reviews" are not relevant to the product being sold. Putting it on the listing was one of eBay's biggest mistakes. Not only by doing that does it hurt the seller, but it hurts eBay's bottom line.

Ebay's feedback rules for buyers:

Please make sure that your comments are fair, based in fact, and relate to the specific transaction for which you received the feedback request.

The TRANSACTION, not the product, you're correct.

i believe you are tring to narrow the  word "transaction" ....

I believe you're trying to broaden the word "transaction" to mean what you want it to.

Some people believe that poor yelp restaurant reviews are limited to complaints of poor service, and not about low quality food.

Those people would be the restaurant owners, not the restaurant patrons.  Patrons care about both when selecting a restaurant.

Note, its a "REVIEW" not feedback which is about the transaction.

OK, you forced me to look up policy, I hate doing that but, here it is:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-ov.html

Note eBay says "Feedback is an open forum where members can leave comments about their experiences with their transaction partners", it says nothing about the product. Why does eBay shows product reviews on the same page then?

This wont change anything with the OP's problem, but it is fact in eBay speak.

The product they receive is part of the transaction.  The buyer is angry that the seller sold junk and didn't divulge that in the listing.  Of course "junk" is opinion, but that is the basis of all feedback, the

buyer's opinion about the transaction.

"I'm kind of in the middle here.  Sellers should not be negged because the buyer didn't like the way their dvd movie ended or the poor plot line in a book, but if the dvd arrives broken or the dust cover of the book is ripped, this isn't just a product review.

-----------

But in the OP's situation, it appears the item was received As Described

and in New condition, as made by the manufacturer.

The buyer didn't like the manufacturer's quality.

I see the difference.

THanks,

Did the seller divulge the fact that the seat will stain your clothing?

If he didn't, it's SNAD and that is worthy of a negative.
