CONTACTING AN EBAY AGENT OR CHAT

We tried contacting Ebay and they only allow us to send an email to them.  They won't let us talk to an agent over the phone nor allow us to chat with someone in their automated assistant.  Can anyone explain why they won't talk to us anymore?

Re: CONTACTING AN EBAY AGENT OR CHAT

We called them last week at 2:30pm central time and the automated recording said that it wasn't in business hours.  We called them again today at 1:00pm central time and they said the same thing.  It's in NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS so why don't they talk to us?

you are just as well off, if you did get to talk to a agent they would be of no help

What is the issue, maybe someone can help you or answer your question here.  A lot of the people here are way more knowledgeable than 10 eBay reps combined.

Re: CONTACTING AN EBAY AGENT OR CHAT

Unfortunately, agreed.  However, that's NOT good business to not talk to their TOP rated sellers and to blow them off.  We called many times during normal business hours and they said that it's not during normal business hours.  It's 1pm and 2:30pm during the week and NO holiday so what is wrong with them.

Re: CONTACTING AN EBAY AGENT OR CHAT

Because you CAN'T call them. If you found a phone number via Google, it's NOT Ebay. I think the ONLY way to get a call from their outsourced "customer service" (which isn't) is requesting a call back via Ebay.

Everything is pretty much automated these days. If you NEED to contact them, best to do so via one of their social media accounts

Re: CONTACTING AN EBAY AGENT OR CHAT

We had a buyer that got upset with us because the shipment was late.  Long story short - We shipped the item the next day after purchase; however, USPS was late.  We had no control over the shipment and only to deliver to USPS the next day.  We told the buyer that in two separate instances that we MAILED THE ITEM THE NEXT DAY AFTER PURCHASE, but they were upset and left a bad rating in our shipping time.  Ebay doesn't want to talk with us and we can't even get an agent through the automated system now to chat with and not to be mean, but we feel they are cowards for not wanting to talk with us.  Also, we mentioned the final selling fees that we have to pay on taxes from the transaction.  We are still confused on that one.  The final selling fees are much higher on Ebay than Mercari and far more higher than other online webstores and Ebay raised the final selling fee again this year to 13.6%.  Let alone Paypal which is also Ebay charges more as well.  It's frustrating all over.

They won't talk to us.  They said that it's not normal business hours when in fact we called at 1pm and 2:30pm last week and today.

They only allow us to send an email and that's all.   Sometimes you need an immediate answer though.  They don't talk to people over the phone anymore?

Re: CONTACTING AN EBAY AGENT OR CHAT

Unfortunately, it didn't work.  They just say to "send an email".  If you call them even during normal business hours and not on an holiday, they say that it's not normal business hours.  Shame on them!

All of this is just tiring, depressing, exhausting, and frustrating.  We can't do this anymore.

Your issue with that buyer is not one that any Ebay employee is likely to be able to do anything about.\

It is a customer service failure on your transaction whether you are personally responsible for the delay or not. YOU have an unhappy customer, YOU might not have avoided having an unhappy customer or you did not have the skills to overcome his/her unhappiness.

You apparently do not understand the history of Ebay's FVF and what it applies to. It has gone up far less than inflation over the years.

PayPal is not a part of Ebay any more, and sellers are now on Ebay managed payments, and need not pay anything to PayPal, nor use PayPal.

Mercari in the US is failing miserably and although they have strength in other countries, they are not likely to exist in the US much longer. Their "Hail Mary" fee elimination was a colossal failure.

You are paying fees on taxes collected because if you were forced to collect sales tax for all US jurisdictions you would be faced with paying another company to handle it for you. Tracking and paying the sales tax is a burden. And fines for not paying are extremely high in many states.

No one wants to be an unpaid tax collector, and although some states make a token payment to sellers who collect, it is a pittance and not fair compensation. Ebay is forcing you to pay them for acting in your interest.

Whether the profit you make after fees is worth the effort, is something only you can decide.

Ebay has made a decision that it does not want to waste human labor on problems which have no solution. So has every major marketplace which as significant numbers of buyers, sellers and traffic to support them.

If Mercari works for you, use it while you can. It does not work for many sellers, and many types of merchandise, and most buyers do not bother to visit it because of the limited offerings.
