I don't know if it's been brought up recently. But I would have to say that of every handful of items I sell here each week, There one, if not two that never get paid for!
And I have grown really SICK & TIRED of "the establishment"
letting this continue to go on! That's whole problem with society now!
Seems I remember a few years ago, they would sometimes reimburse you for lower cost items after the claim was closed. (stuff under $10 maybe)
But they never would give you a clear cut answer about that when you asked.
I certainly don't see that happening now. I am seeing probably 20-25% of my items unpaid! And these thieves suffer NO COSEQUENCES!
The big problem is really that it seems it's politely tolerated. And there's a "strike" put into their record. Well, sorry...but that doesn't pay my electric bill!
In my opinion, anyone that does that, should have their account suspended- first time- period! They get 50 warnings. They know they bought it and are responsible! Then at least they would have to try to start all new accounts to do it all over again I guess.
My apologies! My rant!!! MY ISSUE RIGHT NOW is that I just had a buyer that won an $80 item. Three days later he messages me and says that he found the item cheaper elsewhere. And WILL NOT being paying for this item! Are you SERIOUS?!
That's where we are now? A customer is not only going to legally steal from you. But tell you they are, and you're supposed to say nothing, and suck that up!
Now, there's no active customer service reps that I can speak to (BTW: is this across the board?) Everything is automated at this point.
My main question is... are they gonna really read all of these exchanges, and do anything about it? It has seemed to me that all the leniency is given to buyers now. What's left to protect the very hard working full time sellers, you guys...?
Totally frustrated with it all! Any solutions or feedback that could help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Do away with auctions and best offers and use fixed price with immediate payment required.
Haven't had a non-payer since 2012.

People have been ranting about this since ebay started.........so I doubt they are going to change anything.....
Your outlook seems to label a buyer a thief........and I can't see that.... they have changed their minds for whatever reason...........better they do it now that get it, file a NAD claim and you have to pay for a return.

Every once in a while when things go stale I turn on Best Offer or eBay does automatically for me. I quickly remember why I stay away from them thereafter. I just wish the UPI case moved a bit quicker.

No, they won't do anything. eBay has absolutely no way to compel a buyer to send money to a seller, because they do not have access to a buyer's payment method.
Even if eBay punish non-payers, they would simply create a new account.

A quick look told me most of the items you are selling are going to be impulse buys.
And clothing (including 'club' clothing) is a hard sell at the best of times.
Neither of which makes a good fit with Auctions.
You have a good idea by now, with 10 years and over a thousand happy customers, of the value of your products.
I join other sellers in encouraging you to set a Fixed Price and use Immediate Payment required.
A customer is not only going to legally steal from you. But tell you they are, and you're supposed to say nothing, and suck that up!
What is he stealing?
Some of your time, which could have been prevented by using FP/IPR.
You didn't ship, and you still have the item available to sell. This particular case is even one of the few where you could relist while the UID is underway.
You do have your Seller Preferences/Buyer Requirements set to automatically Block deadbeats with UID Strikes already, I assume?
Somewhat off topic-- Do you get a lot of requests for more pictures of your shoes? You can actually sell just the pictures (in Adult) and keep the shoes. A happy fetishist is a repeat customer.

We have this setting chosen for our selling profile. A guy messaged us about lowering the price about $30 so he could buy it. I explained to him that we weren’t currently accepting offers... he then buys it- it’s the highest priced item we have listed by the way. It’s been 4 days, I opened a claim, he still hasn’t paid.
what are we supposed to do about buyers like this that purchase an item with no intention to pay?
He clearly did it to mess with us, and we’re pretty much helpless, having to keep a listing off until the claim is resolved. We lost all the watchers we had on that item!

Most watchers are just that, watchers and are not interested in buying..

"Most watchers are just that, watchers and are not interested in buying.."
Really not true at all...and you may have just alienated buyers who utilize the watch list. I know I disliked what you stated.

Since you filed the Unpaid Item Dispute, at the end of 96 hours, if still unpaid, you close the case. This gives the buyer an unpaid strike, you get the FVF credited, and no one can leave feedback. Then you relist. I believe any watchers will receive a message from ebay that the item has been relisted.

Yes, I don't get it; maybe someone can enlighten me about this policy.
Buyer wins auction, doesn't pay, or communicate, with Seller, for 2 days. Seller opens Unpaid Item Case, then has to wait FOUR MORE DAYS before the case can be closed and the item re-listed. Seller is delayed for SIX DAYS and cannot conduct business because a Buyer who entered a legal contract doesn't care to follow through.
Imagine this happening in a Brick and Mortar store--ridiculous.

It happens only "occasionally," and ebay takes it "seriously." See, they say so:

I feel bad for sellers who have to deal with deadbeats on a constant basis..
Reading various topics here is reinforcing why I only sold one thing and don't plan to start selling again anytime soon..
I'll keep buying though. 😛

You ARE aware that a seller can open an unpaid item case 48 hours after the end of the auction/listing, right? And that after you have opened the case, you need to return to it 96 hours later and ask eBay to step in so your fees can be refunded. Or you can set your listings to automatically open that case at a certain point after the end of the listing/auction.
How can we determine that any buyer purchases an item with no intention to pay? We can't.
