Buyers Demands

Maybe I just came here to vent. I noticed that buyers are dictating how I ship, offering what they think I should sell my item for, change my auctions to Buy it Now, disagree with my pricing for shipping (which is actual), don’t use peanuts, make an offer where I don’t have Make an Offer and everything else. If they don't like my terms, just don’t buy. I can’t imagine purchasing something on Amazon and dictating how I think the seller should change their terms. Been on eBay since 2013. Just trying to be an honest seller but more and more buyers have become entitled, I guess.

Re: Buyers Demands

People can be so strange, I mean can you imagine walking into a store like Walmart and telling the sales assistants how much you are willing to pay for something? but Target has it cheaper.............

Re: Buyers Demands

I just buy here now and I never bother my sellers because of my previous experiences with buyers when I sold here years ago. Buyers are annoying. I had one buyer who constantly messaged me about the way I packed and shipped items and I informed him I used to be a postal worker and I know how they treat packages poorly so that is the reason I pack like I did.  The items he bought from me arrived safe and sound so I didn't understand where he was coming from. I got tired of his messages so I just blocked him. He had another account and started messaging me from it and I told him that if he continues to message me about nonsense then I will report to ebay. He got the message because I never heard from him again.

Re: Buyers Demands

This is important because one complaint seldom is the end of it.  The price was too high, you could shipped it for less, it needed more bubble wrap....

I keep my attitude friendly and polite, but I don't need someone to nickle and dime me to death.  I'd rather sell to someone else or give it away.

Wholeheartedly agree. It is absolutely ridiculous. I just spent an hour responding to messages from perspective buyers and getting berated because someone else has a similar item listed for less. Don’t get it

I had someone tell me how much someone else was selling theirs for... I told the buyer "if you found a better deal I suggest you take advantage of it". Why bother me if my price is too high... if you can do better, do that.

The buyer was trying to guilt-shame you into reducing your item price.

It's a good thing my business doesn't have any emotions... when people try to guilt me into lowering my prices with sob stories I tell people that I buy my items from someone who wanted to make money, and by selling them I want to make money too. It's honest, and nothing a seller should be ashamed of admitting (that their goal is to turn a profit).

In some of the big box stores in Canada the store encourages people to bring in fliers, phones with advertising, etc, to say how cheap the same item is elsewhere and they price match. I waited in line for 20 minutes behind someone who had to price match everything in her cart. (Here's a hint, go shop there... I just want to pay for my stuff and leave. I don't care about saving 2 cents because Walmart sells it for 3.97 instead of 3.99).

@hobbynut-nj

Those are train buyers and they can be very fussy about their choo- choos. It's just the way it is and all you can do is reassure your buyers that you will ship and pack appropriately to protect their purchase.

Re: Buyers Demands

Yes, they do not do that on Amazon, because Amazon never encouraged that kind of behavior. If i get a decent offer and I am not talking anything below 10 percent. Then I will do it. Otherwise with the cost of my items currently and the shipping costs cannot do massive discounts for folks. Sorry.

Re: Buyers Demands

This is asking for something that isn't offered in the sale. AFAIK, you don't have to do it and if they neg your for it, a good CS rep will remove it.

Keep proof handy.

Re: Buyers Demands

Amazon prime has many people believing shipping is free.  BUNCH OF IDIOTS 😕🤣 Just kidding... kinda

I love this line... I will pay $10 shipped! and the item costs $8.99 to ship.  Nice

I agree with you, but the remedy takes about half a second.   "No."

@tcg-exchange-us

and just offer free shipping now. I am eating the cost

That's not how Free Shipping works.

Which is cheaper?

A $10 item with $5 shipping?

 Or a $15 item with Free Shipping?

Free Shipping just means that you include your costs for shipping in your asking price?
Are your buyers fooled?

@hobbynut-nj

You can also set your Best Offer so that acceptable Offers are automatically accepted and ridiculous ones promptly and politely declined.

The difference between the two can be a penny.

Probably not.

Do they like Free Shipping?

Yep.

At some stores negotiation is possible.  I once saved $100 on a refrigerator at Best Buy just by asking.

Furniture stores are other good places to ask for discounts.

If you are going to sell items on what amounts to a worldwide yard sale you are going to get that, just part of it
