Buyer wants to return different item than I sent

So I recently sold some glasses, but when the buyer received them they claimed the nose bridge had some damage. I asked if they could send a photo and sent me a photo of an obviously different item that I had sent them (same model, but significant identifiable differences in what I sent).

I understand I am responsible to cover the refund and help with buyer protection, but is there anything I can do in the case that I get something returned that is totally different than what I shipped out? Or do I just have to chalk this up as the cost of business and take the loss?

The photos I took of the glasses are very clear and detailed so there's almost no mistake that they aren't the same item, or at least had been tampered with/used a lot before sending me a message about it.

It was an international buyer going through Global Shipping by eBay if it makes any difference. Any input is appreciated.

Re: Buyer wants to return different item than I sent

I don't see the item in your sold listings but you referenced it went through Global Shipping by eBay. If you are referring to the EIS program then you should have seller protections under that program. It sounds like the buyer messaged you rather than opening an official return request. If that is the case simply respond and tell them to open an official request/claim and eBay should deal with it.
