It's really frustrating that buyer's can just simply say "item doesn't match description" and ebay says "ok return it" with no other supporting evidence even though I'm not a business and do not accept returns.
The buyer sent me a pic that is clearly not the item that I sent. People suck and ebay should not accept them at their word. The buyer is NOT always right!

Absolutely and until a buyer actually finds something they want to buy, they don't have much incentive to sign up for an account which is why in most cases their first transaction will also be their first day on ebay with an account. You really glean nothing from their profile other than that the account was created on that day.

@antfant - THAT would be priceless. Unpaired and different colors? So little effort to steal. Not even creative.

Not sure why answers on this site are so mean,,,Interesting at best,,,I think you should change your buyer requirements to not accept buyers with zero feedback,,,Ebay has become a minefield of scam buyers,,,especially so since ebay allows buyers to have as many buyers ids as they want,,,!!,,Sellers are suffering with this policy

I see you have no listings,,,,hmmmm

ebay is a cesspool. Sorry you found out this way. It is a gamble selling on eBay anymore as eBay coddles buyers and screws sellers.

No such requirement exists for sellers to do this

eBay always protects the buyers. You will get a lot of messages from eBay employees and cheerleaders saying this is your problem not ebays. EBay allows these dishonest buyers to do this over and over again and as sellers we have no protections. Seller protection and customer service are a complete joke.

I'm dealing with an open case right now with a buyer.
They will not send any photos to support their claim. They will not confirm the retail tags are still attached. They have basically lied and changed their story during our conversation in the case communication field.
I just told them that I need to contact eBay and discuss this. That is if I can reach anyone!
I have tied to do some research on my options, but I'm afraid to click on a selection and then the eBay bots take over with no breathing / blood pumping person to review my issue.
The case says I can have the item returned and to not refund until I get the item back, but I have read posts here where as soon as the item is delivered, eBay automatically refunds the buyer.??
I see that I can report a buyer for abusing returns, but not sure how in depth I can go into my report. Will I be able to explain why I'm reporting the person or just click a few selections and it's off to eBay without my explanation?

When you report a buyer now, only some choices allow a box narrative to explain. You are choosing from a short list/narrow list as to why you're reporting and many of those allow zero expanse/elaboration.

The problem with police and postal inspector involvement is... nothing happens.
You get ripped off on a $40 item and report it, but they dont have the time or resources to chase it down.
If it is a major scam involving many sellers and big money, I bet there would be interest. But the small guy......
I had to file a police report for fraud a few years ago for a erroneous item on my credit rating.
$80 cable bill from a town I never lived in. All this kinda stuff is dumped on local police departments and I can not imagine even 10% being investigated.
Living in a digital world.

Sorry - should have tagged you as not your thread - had to re-post, my edit timed out.

What nonsense. Never, ever been that way. Ever.

It was truly a loss for eBay and the sellers when eBay removed the ability for a seller to file negative feedback on a buyer.
It removed the ability to easily identify problem users that abused the system by enabling them to blend into the massive majority of users that are good honest folks.
