Any suggestions on this topic more than welcomed!
About three weeks ago I sold a sterling silver & turquoise cuff to a woman clear across the country. Sale price in the mid 300's. Cuff & stone in FLAWLESS condition and new. I don't sell junk, and most certainly I don't sell damaged. I wrapped the cuff, put the cuff in a gift box, wrapped the gift box, used an outer mailing box and padded the interior of the shipping box to the max. Buyer receives the cuff, is **bleep** at me because the cuff is too small, blames my measurements (they were spot on), returns the cuff in a too large old box with a single paper towel and a air puff pillow. The cuff is now damaged. I call eBay, they tell me about a 5 day hold & then the case will be investigated. eBay also says I should try to work things out. I offered the buyer 1/2 refund...no go. The very next day, eBay notifies me they are refunding the buyer in full from my account.
So, basically the lesson is: a buyer can break, damage an item...take zero care in returning and buyer gets all their money back. Were is the seller's protection? Why do eBay reps. give the impression that matters will be looked into and then just reward bad buyer behavior? I have had the fortune to sell to some terrific buyers...very positive experiences. But this incident tells me not to sell anything of value that can be damaged because eBay does not have a seller's back. Unbelievable!!!

Is that the bracelet you are reselling for $325? It looks great.

I got you beat. I had a customer return a OPENED bag of candy and purposely left it open during shipping. He could have closed it (re-sealable bag) but decided not to. Shipped back a empty open bag with loses candies in the box. SMH

Right...sorry. The stone had a deep scratch and scuff mark. I think that occurred while in the buyer's possession.

Yep...that is the same cuff. I will need to have the stone re polished...hopefully.

Why would you put it up for sale before you had the stone polished? you say its in excellent condition.

Much of the problem lies in the fact that Ebay cannot prove what the seller sent to the buyer. And OP is right do not sell anything of value here and they are lucky to have actually received the same bracelet back. Could have been a rock and Ebay would have given buyer their money back. Again, Ebay CANNOT prove what the seller actually sent to the buyer.

Guess I haven't been clear. The stone was polished and undamaged when it was sold & shipped to the buyer. The same stone now needs repair after being sent back to me. Anytime I sell unpolished or rough turquoise I mentioned that in the sales posting.
