Buyer requested return, used bogus reasoning, I'm just frustrated.

Well, it has finally happened to me. I've previously had a pair of returns before when I mistakenly swapped 2 packages and shipped to the wrong people, both were very understanding and we resolved it on our own, without EBay, playing the "ship back game".

Now someone, without even messaging me first, has opened a return request citing "wrong item sent". I'm kinda irritated now. I have the "no returns", which I know means I still accept returns under MBG.

I messaged the buyer knowing I did not ship the wrong item. He responded saying it was not as described. He sent me pics and it is the exact coin I have in the listing. The only difference, is the lighting. I use bright lights to highlight details AND flaws on coins. The only difference, is the appearance of color. The coin is a dark coin, it appears a bit lighter in the pictures, but it by no means should give any buyer the idea that this is a bright and shiny silvery coin. Aside from coloration, which can be proved by sticking this under a light as opposed to on your kitchen table with whatever kitchen light you have on 10 ft away. He is arguing that it is not as I described it. Grading coins is SO subjective. I showed like 8 different HIGH RESOLUTION/IN FOCUS pictures front and back of the coin. I don't care what I described the coin as. I called it "high" grade. I don't care what anyone says it is. The coin world accepts that grading is subjective and I state in my listing ALWAYS that it is the buyers responsibility to judge quality and condition from pictures provided (AKA don't take my opinion of the grade, grade it yourself).

I've been prepared for this -- I'm just veryyyy annoyed. Welcome to e-commerce I guess. He is arguing with me as if he bought the coin based PURELY on the description I wrote, which was ACCURATE (aside from the use of a SUBJECTIVE word "high".) Did this individual buy a coin without looking through the 8 pictures I showed in the listing? Are you kidding me? Who buys coins without looking at pics? The whole point of coins is HOW THEY LOOK. This isn't a piece of electronics where a picture doesn't tell you if it's operational or not, ALL THE DETAIL YOU NEED IS VISUAL AND IN PICTURES.

He even said the coin isn't worth what he paid. That screams to me it's a remorse return. He overpaid for it. He is trying to argue nonsensical things. He is entitled to his opinion, but he as any coin buyer with a brain should look at pics. I STATE THE COIN YOU SEE IS THE COIN YOU BUY ... ITS NOT A GOD BLESSED STOCK PHOTO!!!!!!!

Again, I'm just venting because I'm irritated. He was polite, but he was stating false things. Had he just told me "the coin is darker than in your pictures, and thus is not as described" I would be more than happy to accept that return, but my telling me I described it wrong blows my mind because then I want to throw it back in his face and say look at the pictures, because it is the exact coin. Nothing I stated was a false description. He is hanging his argument on one word, and it's a subjective word, and I use disclaimers in my listings to combat people arguing subjective things. He is just saying what he needs to in order to achieve his goal. I can respect that. If I get a neg feedback, I will be polite and leave a response to his feedback, but again I will be **bleep** and hopefully will be able to get it removed through some fashion.

I know it could be so much worse, don't get me wrong, I'm just frustrated. Thanks for listening.

I once had someone return a green shirt as 'not as described' because they were 'disappointed' in the shade of green.  😒  You need good nerves to work in this business.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

I have had buyer request a return because the color seemed different than the the listing pictures.   I used a photographic light tent to take my pictures so in fact they were brighter.  This buyer claimed I used fake pictures.  I just accepted the return and blocked that buyer.   I also reported the buyer for filing a false MBG claim.  Apparently eBay agreed as they credited me back $6.00 for the return shipping label.  Then resold the item for a higher price.

I will be doing the same, reporting this buyer for abuse of the MBG.

He intentionally chose to not make any argument about the coin not matching the pictures. He chose solely to argue a single word used in description/title, ignoring any and all disclaimers. I go out of my way to NOT be deceptive. I go out of my way to be EXTRA transparent. He showed pics of the coin from like 2ft away and tried to argue the picture clearly shows condition is not as described. If you can't even see the coin, how can you argue condition. He is solely arguing color and avoiding saying it.

Had the buyer simply told me the truth, I would accept the return regardless and not be upset. His false accusations and blatant nonsense of an argument... i mean you're welcome to argue the grade of a coin, and have every right to, but when I show exact pictures in high res, you can't tell me you're arguing the fact that I called it "high" grade. What the hell is "high" grade? Please define that for me. Had I said "Higher" grade would it have been appropriate? I intentionally didnt use an official grading term and I commented on every single flaw and showed high res zoomed in shots of each flaw or issue. This isn't rocket science and he isnt a new coin buyer/collector.

He has yet to leave me a negative feedback. Actually, I don't think he can leave negative yet because it's less than 7 days. I'm hoping he refrains from leaving any feedback at all since he knows he doesn't have much of a leg to stand on and I'm being extremely courteous, but frankly pointed out the facts, and still accepted the return w/o issue.

He is being promptly added to my BBL

It all has worked out well for me and he wasnt rude or beligerent, I have little to complain about, he has just gotten under my skin because he knows his comments are B - S.

Make sure you block the buyer so you never have to deal with them again.

As you already know and sounds like you are just venting; but know this:

If it sold once, it will sell again.

No returns should not exist and really doesn't.

Doesn't matter the 'reason' a buyer uses.

Doesn't matter if they looked at the description.

Doesn't matter if they looked at the pictures.

Doesn't matter if the pictures look different on the buyers monitor vs. your monitor.

You sell, you got the $$, buyer decides they don't want it- you get your item back and you refund.

Live to sell another day.

Exactly, someone else will buy this $65 nickel from me, and will be thrilled to add it to their collection, that's what I hang my hat on. Totally just venting... I am seeking advice on certain things in the other thread, but those are extraneous things.

I guess I end up more upset having read posts of people buying a coin based on a stock photo and getting a coin that looks nothing at all relative to condition of the coin pictured... and those sellers get away with it ... and I'm selling a coin that is a slightly different color than apparent in pics, and I get a return. Again, I get the item back, so not much lost, but still hits the ego. I'm too prideful for EBay, I try to hard, LOL
