Buyer opens a return on item not even shipped

I have a buyer who asked to cancel their purchase right after they purchased. I didn't get to it that day and the next day before I could take care of it I got a notification from eBay that a return had been opened. Then another e-mail saying the item had been shipped back with an obviously fake tracking number on it. All for an item I never even shipped. Can't the bots at eBay check things like this before they automatically  approve returns? Sheesh

Re: Buyer opens a return on item not even shipped

If the buyer used the label that eBay sent to them to send something back, the seller will get charged for whatever is shipped back. You have to ask customer service for a credit. I have ran into this before. It makes no sense why eBay allows buyers to open returns when it has not gone past the estimated delivery date. It should only allow the buyer to do this after the estimated delivery date or the item shows as being delivered. EBAY MUST FIX THIS NOW!

Re: Buyer opens a return on item not even shipped

eBay can make it so the only way a return can be opened is if the tracking number shows as delivered or it has gone past the estimated delivery date.

I have ran into this twice in the last 2 months. I am getting really angry over this. eBay has to fix this issue NOW!

Based upon the facts you have submitted, eBay which takes pride in being a global tech company, should be able to realize the improbability of the buyer receiving delivery of the item in a matter of hours from the time of purchase.

If this "fake tracking number" doesn't show that the item was returned to you, the buyer will lose a return case. You will not have to refund.

I wouldn't go so far as to place much confidence in their programming team.

We are talking about a company that can't even get their html free of errors.

Mind you, most corporate websites operate this way.

How they stay in business, that is the miracle.

I was thinking the same thing, why issue a refund?

Yes it's the right thing to do but on ebay things don't work that way.

On ebay it's willy nilly lilly pilly and the joker's wild.
