Item sold on 6/30/17. Shipped Fedex to confirmed paypal address (Kyle, Tx) with full insurance and signature confirmation on 7/2/17. On 7/13, buyer opens INR, says "Says it was delivered but it wasnt". I check tracking, shows delivery on 7/7 to Buda, TX. Buda??? Signed for by someone too. I go back, double check all my shipping info, that I had it all correct, yes. Then I decide to google the buyer's name. Google tells me the buyer is the owner of a food truck in, where of all places? Buda Tx. The buyer is asian and the food truck sells Thai food. So to put all the pieces together, it appears a Fedex redirect was made by the buyer, shipped to their business, and signed for. I shipped it to the paypal address and have a signature confirmation of delivery. Do I need to be worried about anything?

Sellers needs to set up their own FedEx accounts and link it to their eBay account.
That is what I thought as well.
The other way would be scam magnet for people to say they never received it.
But if you go to their site, the new "Delivery Manager" It does allow the receiver to change the delivery location! I went through the process (as far as I dared so as not to actually change it, with a package I have coming) and it IS an option for the receiver.
Now, what their internal programming shows?? Who knows.. Perhaps they ask for ID and mark it as delivered to the original address? That's not exactly honest though is it?
My son works for Fedex- God help him and I can ask him about it but they did add this to their "Delivery Options" for the receiver.
It's terrifying...
No the receiver can't change it. If you had tried to complete the change you would have seen that

I think everyone is in an uproar for nothing
I've had a FedEx account as far back as when it was RPS and use it for all my shipping...including ebay. I have FedEx Delivery Manager as well
I recently tried to re-route a package that my soon to be ex gave my address for even though he doesn't live here anymore (not the first time he did this....he's not too bright...alcoholic dementia I suppose)
I could not re-route it because I was not the shipper. I could not get the shipper to re-route it because my name was not on the account, my soon to be ex's is. So I just refused the package when it got here
I have had several mis-delivered packages in 25+ years of using FedEx. When they find the error they re-route the shipment. I mean the have millions of packages and they do make mistakes on occasion.
Perhaps the person at the incorrect address signed for it thinking it was for someone at her house, then called FedEx (being an honest person) and told them it wasn't hers/his.
Bottom line...I found from my own frustration that if you are not the shipper you cannot re-route a FedEx package

Paypal, the seller loses any seller protection when a package is redirected.
Ran out of time

OMG!!!!!
This is a GIGANTIC SNAFU.
AFAIK it's been this way for some time now.
@*eponymous* wrote:Redirections can also be done by the buyer on myusps but only after a delivery attempt has been made. That must be the point at ownersip passes from seller to buyer.
I believe the shipper can prohibit redirection with UPS and FedEx...anyone know for sure?
No idea. I don't use either enough to know.
With FedEx you had the option not to have a delivery by recipient - it used to be only done by the shipper, not sure now as I have not used FedEx for a while. UPS, if you sign up for it, you can 😞

There’s definitely a scam going on with redirecting packages and I may be another victim of it. A buyer ordered a video card from me on Ebay. I sent it using FedEx on Ebay’s shipping tool. I became alarmed after tracking the package and saw it got it rerouted from Florida to New Jersey (?). I called FedEx and they refused to give me the address that it was redirected to saying I wasn’t the account holder and the reciepient’s party paid to have it redirected. My next call will be to Ebay but I have a feeling I’m gonna be screwed with a chargeback coming. 😞
