Buyer feedback

As a small seller it gets frustrating to see some buyers skip the feedback process. If I carefully package and ship an item, that is exactly as described. I’m no expert here but it seems some people take too much for granted. I have followed the advice of another seller who said. - don’t poke the bear.which I have followed by not asking for any feedback.

You are now getting Auto-Feedback left by eBay, so far 16 of them. Since September you will get either feedback from your buyers or an auto-feedback so your total will go up by one for every transaction.

Maybe you don't do much shopping online, buyers get bombarded by merchants asking for feedback. Even for in person transactions merchant receipts often include requests for feedback.

If you are not seeing this go to your Feedback page, tick the box for Automated Feedback and change the sort to Most Recent. Many/most people are just fed up with all the "begging".

Accumulating feedback means something for new sellers but once you get a couple of hundred it really doesn't mean anything.

FYI - For the last few years eBay has been displaying the total number of sales a seller has made.

Re: Buyer feedback

Carefully packaging and shipping an item is your job.
Your reward is your buyers $$$
"thanks" is nice, but it's not why you're doing this

I agree with you, because I"m one of those people who almost always leaves FB for sellers. I feel it's part of supporting small business.

I recently sold something worth many thousands if new -- it was in almost like new condition. I was so excited to have found it and been able to pass it on. FB would have been nice.

But c'est la vie. But we can't expect others to behave as we would -- a lesson I've learned in life.

Re: Buyer feedback

Sure, it is nice to get genuine, positive feedback.  But, try not to stress about not getting it.  Even if buyers don't provide feedback, eBay will leave automated feedback.

True buyer appreciation can come in other (more meaningful) ways.  If you've done well enough with a transaction - ship quickly, pack well, describe correctly, etc. - you might just get "saved" by the buyer.  Eventually, that buyer might come back for another purchase - that's the real signal that your efforts are appreciated.

Re: Buyer feedback

It is just courteous and common decency to leave positive feedback but those things along with common sense seem to be in short supply today.

Re: Buyer feedback

Have you responded to feedback of a buyer?

"Thank you for your purchase.'...I add this sometimes after my feedback and after a buyer's feedback.

I don't know...but it's free to do and some buyers do look at feedback and if you give two feedbacks for one purchase...it does look good.

I get buyers who look for feedback before it's even shipped.

Re: Buyer feedback

That issue has been corrected with auto feedback. Yes you will have buyers who don't want to leave feedback. Mine was around 70% who didn't leave feedback. It's not as important to some people as it is to others. I have never asked for feedback from a buyer.

Did you noticed that although your buyers haven't left personal feedback, you have received 9 automatic feedbacks this month. So those checking your feedbacks can see that you shipped your items on time and haven't had complaints.

Feedback is voluntary and is left maybe 30% of the time internet-wide. It has been that way for quite a while not "nowadays" - it changed when internet shopping got to be completely routine.  Now it's equivalent to someone sending a snail mail letter or calling to thank Sears Roebuck for sending out their boxers and that towel set.

Re: Buyer feedback

Have you noticed that eBay now handles this "common decency" by leaving auto FB for sellers if no issues appear to be present?

Re: Buyer feedback

You have left 93 FB and received 75 (including automatic).

A much higher percentage than most.

I believe the norm, before automatic FB, was about 40%.
