I have a buyer who purchased an item and contacted me when she received it stating damage. I went back to her and told her to read the listing as it is listed as being broken under both condition and in the description. She played dumb and told me she didn't know where to find item description in the listing - hard to believe as she's been on Ebay for 17 years and a seller. She then came back and told me she only looked at the pictures and did not read the listing - then she opens a case as item not described - damaged.
I immediately contacted Ebay CS and they told me she was definitely abusing the MBG and to call back today (today is the last day I have before the case closes) and Ebay would close in my favor. When I called back today, I was told to call back tomorrow and escalate and they would close the case in my favor.
I've escalated cases a couple of times in the past only to have buyer win the case. I like to believe that Ebay has changed and are actually giving sellers protection from bad people.
Should I listen to Ebay and call tomorrow to escalate or will that be the kiss of death for this item? Should I contact Ebay on Facebook?
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you all for your help. I called CS a third time and got a different answer. I will do what I should have done in the first place and have her return it - unfortunately it was a large item $18.00 to ship each way... I know the cost of doing business on-line!! She does leave a lot of negatives for sellers, so I am assuming that will come next. It just irks me that scammers get away with scamming honest people. I really think she knew the damage when she bought it but was using it as leverage to get a partial refund. Just venting. Thanks again for your help!.

Last time I looked at the condition selections there were a number of categories that do not offer "for parts or not working". What would you suggest a seller do if that would be what they run into for their listing?

With all due respect, I have nothing against you, don'[t get mad at me, i'm just going to tell it like it is...
You will lose this case.
Ebay will refund the buyer and let them keep the item.
In the future, just refund and let them keep the item.
--- OR ---
Pay for a return and refund the buyer when you get the item back.
Those are about your only 2 options.

I live in the heart of San Francisco where if a woman doesn't have a cell phone in her hand walking down the street.. or coming out of a car or at the store or the gym...she doesn't have a cellphone...LOL.
It depends where you live and the population...a town or a farm of a few people probably not.

Block buyer after all is done...not before.
These buyers get mad if they get blocked before they leave feedback.
I have about 300+ blocked buyers...I never counted...LOL

Blocking wouldn't stop feedback if that's what you mean.

After 60 days a buyer cannot leave feedback...
I read a lot of posts here in the morning waking up drinking coffee.
Some buyers get mad if they get blocked after a purchase went wrong...and can't make another purchase...but can leave sad😢feedback of a previous purchase.

There are some things that are not worth selling for various reasons.

I don't use a cell phone to buy on ebay , just for looking only . since half the info is always missing ,that is why I buy on the PC or laptop .
