So I had an item listed that’s a preorder. Had it listed for a certain price with Best Offer. Buyer sends me an offer, I counter. He counters back, price was fair so I accept. 24hrs later the buyer wants to cancel stating “Found cheaper somewhere else”. I decline the cancellation because that is the buyers responsibility to research prices prior. Especially after submitting an offer that they were comfortable with and me accepting. I then get a message from the buyer stating “I will return this… You are better off accepting my cancel request & sell to someone else”.
Do I have any choice in this situation? It’s absolutely **bleep** that they can do this. Then risk the buyer returning a higher dollar item that has been opened or tampered with that will result in the item being literally worthless and not able to be sold after the fact.

Ebay completely favors the buyer in 99.9% of cases, and they don't care much about sellers in that same percentage.
And no, you "can't violate something they allow", if in fact they're allowing it. However, that won't stop a buyer from opening an INR case when the item hasn't shown up by the estimated delivery date. Unfortunately, selling pre-order on here puts a seller in about as much jeopardy as drop shipping.

"I have never figured out why sellers would ever pre-sell something before it comes out. Especially when situations like this occur.
Can someone enlighten me?"
Often, despite there being better prices available, buyers won't cancel the preorder and won't make any gripes about it. And as has been pointed out, prices often drop as release approaches/hits, so this locks in a higher sale price for the seller. I've done pre-sales often enough over the years to speak to this and only one person has wanted to cancel because of lower prices available.

Just noticed they had 3 day handling.....which is not possible.
Estimated between Sat, May 10 and Thu, May 15

Also, eBay allowed the presale with the release date in mind when handling and shipping date was selected. Can’t violate something they allow. Also, reselling items because certain items are what they call “Hype” items. They are a highly anticipated item where all “Pre-Orders” from the manufacture are officially sold out and the only way to get them is the secondary market.
You have 3 day handling on this item which is not possible.
It shows me an estimated delivery date between Sat, May 10 and Thu, May 15.
That means on May 16 I could open an INR case if I was your buyer and since you don't have the item I'd win and get a refund.

You're absolutely right, ebay is trash.
I say refuse the request to cancel and "make" them buy it.
Let me know how that works out for you...

No you did NOT select a 40 day handling time on your listing. Ebay only knows what information you provide. Contradicting information is a deceitful in ebays eyes.

Looks like they relisted one.
Fixed the shipping, but still won't be able to get it shipped to the buyer on time.

Sure ... you can choose to cancel and not pay shipping, or you can stick to your guns and risk losing the cost of shipping it both ways if the buyer files a "not as described" dispute (and also losing your item if he returns an empty box).

Don't know where they found a better price, but did you know that after a person has purchased something or indicated a interest by looking a item then eBay will flood the potential buyer with offers from other sellers?
eBay does not so much care who something is purchased from. They just want to encourage to buy something, from anyone.

I agree with you . I'm wondering where buyer found it cheaper . Ebay is very good at finding items buyer buy's after they have bought said item from corrent seller ,at cheaper price.

I don't think everyone is saying Ebay is trash and buyers should get anything they want. Just that it's never good to force a sale when the buyer wants to back out.
Buyers can and sometimes will get revenge and if you're lucky it's just a INAD case. If not?
Think of it as the buyer is the bear. Why poke it?

If the seller did a little research on eBay or google and priced their item below the lowest priced seller they wouldn't have this problem. Ebay wouldn't be able to show them a lower priced seller after the fact.
Other benefits of being the lowest priced seller is you will sell more and things would sell faster. This is a win, win for everyone. Seller sells faster, buyer gets a lower price, and eBay gets their fees.

I agree with you . also the OP seller should have done completed sold items as well ,by searching low priced sold. which would helped on seting up best price .
