As a full-time seller I always check recent sold prices for items before listing. Recently about half the time I click on a sold listing for a comic (to see the condition details / pictures, for instance), it instead immediately redirects me to an active item I have no interest in. I understand this may work for some items (although why anyone would go to sold items hoping to buy active versions is beyond me), but its irrelevant for many types of items, such as basically ALL collectibles, which depend on very specific details. A 0.5 version of a key comic may go for $50 while the 9.8 goes for $1000, so even if I was clicking on sold items to (for some reason) buy active ones, I would have zero interest in what's being shown. This was just demonstrated when an item I was bidding on as a seller ended around $60 and it immediately redirected me to a $350 one. If this isn't a bug, I'm assuming it was some bright idea from someone in the marketing department trying to get attention. I understand experimenting and trying new things, but all you're going to do is annoy the people who are trying to see sold items.
I suppose ultimately its a question of how many impulse purchases you're going to generate that wouldn't otherwise occur VS how much you're going to degrade the experience of the average buyer/seller looking at sold items? I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that people go to sold items to SEE SOLD ITEMS. And if they're looking for an active item, they use this crazy feature called the search bar.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Removing the link to see original listing is one thing that recently changed.
The other thing that recently changed is we used to be able to avoid the redirect by going to a clean item link like the one I posted above removing all tracking info at the tail that's frequently added. That's no longer the case.
Now try this link to the same sold item where I added a no redirect command at the end of the URL so you can see the original listing:

Hi kyle@ebay devon@ebay elizabeth@ebay . Please see above for an explanation of what changed a week ago to the frustration of many.
Can you get feedback from this discussion and all the other discussions to the product team? We'd really like to see the "view original listing" link restored when sold listings are redirected to an active similar listing. Thanks in advance.

Thanks devon@ebay and kyle@ebay - appreciate it!
Compiling this type of stuff would be so much easier if board tagging was re-instated. 😁

Hey @mondex and @wastingtime101 we have received word that this issue has been resolved. Please let us know if you see any other instances of this happening.

@mondex wrote:If this isn't a bug,
Ebay is not designed by people that use it or really know what it is.
Every "feature" is a bug until enough people make a stink about it.
They also remove bugs that were genuine useful features like the ability to withhold shipping on returns. You know stuff that is beneficial to users...just get rid of that.

Thanks kyle@ebay !
I'm still not seeing the view original listing link when I go to the page I used as an example above https://www.ebay.com/itm/286128979069/ however I think clearing my cache/cookies on this browser will probably fix that because when I use private browsing mode and when I use a different browser that didn't visit that link while the issue was occurring, I do see the "see original listing" link.
Anybody else not seeing "see original listing" - I suggest clearing your cache/cookies first then try again.
