Broken

I haven't sold on eBay in a while. But I have sold many items on eBay. My track record is perfect, never a return. But, my funds are on hold. It seems eBay is now broken. No reason is given for the hold, except that when you're a new seller, they hold your funds. I am not a new seller. I tried talking to customer service, they really didn't have any help to offer. I checked my deposit preferences, bank account and PayPal. I tried setting my bank, again as my deposit preference, instead it set some kind of eBay selling costs as my bank preferences and to five dollars out of my account. There is no way to change it back. My Funds are still on hold, again no reason, eBay is ditched. Erase your account, it's nothing but thievery now. It's sad to erase a 20-year-old account, but things have definitely gone south around here.

Re: Broken

Did you know that Paypal was hacked earlier this year?   Just a heads up incase you want to change the password there.   Also do you realize that other companies have your social security number and bank account information?  Every company or person that you sent a check to.  Your cell phone company.  Every credit card that you own.  Every loan that you ever took out. etc. etc.

Don't take it personally.   Everyone has to comply with the rules. I sell with 2 other IDS since 1998.  If I turn this ID into a selling account, I will be treated as a brand new seller.     The rules are the same for everyone.

Good point - I had forgotten that the "new" seller restrictions were ID-based.  I had taken a break on one of my ID's in May (?) of last year, and resumed selling in March of this year.  Payment hold in place and I eventually lost my TRS status - and it will take me until early July to get my numbers back to where they need to be.  All fair.  None of it is an insult.  None of it is personal.

Re: Broken

Are you really comparing shopping and selling on eBay to a medical practice? You really don't know much about the professions, do you ....Ugh.

Absolutely not - I would not equate selling on eBay with being a doctor.  There are SO MANY more great doctors than great eBay sellers.

And the doctors that I know / have known actually understand that times change - same can’t be said for so many sellers.  It is always disappointing to hear “I’ve been doing the same thing for twenty years, so no way my sales should be down!”

That's missing the point - risk/liability and accountability don't depend upon profession, they're realities to be faced just about anywhere. If you're determined to be upset, fine, and it's also fine to disagree with eBay's action on this, but it doesn't change the fact that any company is going to deal with fraud and liability. If we sell here, we're stuck with eBay's actions on this matter to combat what is an increasing problem with fraud.

Re: Broken

My account is anything but dormant. I have been using it the same old way all this time, buying things using PayPal. Just because I hadn't sold anything doesn't make an account dormant. They are still holding my money, and I'm pretty sure they will forever, as a matter of fact I just decided it wasn't worth all this hassle, 40 buck for lesson learned.

Re: Broken

Unfortunately, many sellers come back after long periods of dormant selling with a sense of entitlement, because of a previous selling record here.It just doesnt matter how long you've been a member, or how many recent purchases you've made. That is not the stats that Ebay considers with holding funds and releasing them. Its the same for everybody.
