I have a basic store ( I’ve used approximately 1/3 of my free listings), I don’t usually sell books. Upon adding two drafts for books as I go to list I see an insertion fee. I see that multiple categories can cause this so I bulk edited my entire store to remove any second categories. Still the books want an insertion fee. If I change the category to something else the insertion fee is gone. Does any body have any other ideas as to why this would be happening?

The only reason I can think of is if you were using auction format rather than fixed price.

Thank you, I have 0 auction listings why would a single book auction add a fee? I have 250 left in my store.

Most auctions are not included in your free insertions. On our selling account, it shows that it's primarily the collectible and fashion categories. When we list auctions for books, we're charged an insertion fee since it doesn't fall under any of the allotted categories for a free insertion.

Book category is NOT included in the free categories for auctions.

Thank you, I have tried it both with buy it now and auction. Both add the fee.

You have 292 listings. Are you sure you don't have a starter store? If so you're over the limit for a starter store and will be charged for any category.

Agreed, @cherie2173 , you need to check your Promotional Offers tile on your Seller Hub. This is the one for this account, which I don't use to list:
