Automated feedback starts TOMORROW ... but what does that actually mean?

If they're doing it the way they have been for the 10-or-fewer sales sellers (and if I have this right) the auto feedback loads 7 days after a delivery.  The wording ^here^ literally says "Starting September 3, you'll automatically receive feedback ...."  so I wonder if that means we'll actually see those for items delivered 7 days before tomorrow .... or if it will start with items delivered tomorrow ..... or items bought tomorrow ..... or what.  

Knowing eBay, there will be some glitch and we'll all wake up with thousands more feedbacks, like in Office Space when they accidentally embezzle $300k overnight instead of over 2 years. 🤣

This is a GENERAL POST.

 

It starts on Wednesday the 3rd.

 

Sellers won't start seeing it for about a week or so.  Time to ship and get delivered.

It looks like we won't be getting auto feedback for the mail that goes the scenic route.

Have they ever said how long they will wait for buyer to leave feedback before showing the automatic one?  Surely they won't start doing it the day after delivery (or something like that).......

First data point from me: we just got an eBay Automated Feedback today on an order placed Aug 21, 2025 and delivered Aug 23, the only automated feedback we've ever received.

I'm sure we had many other orders delivered around that same timeframe that haven't had feedback left by buyers yet, so I'll watch and see if others show up today or soon.

I wonder what it would say when post office screws up and it's no fault of the seller, I know what it should say but that would make way too much common sense.

Honestly, I bet eBay leaves positive feedback so long as the buyer doesn't change it or open a case. And I'm not honestly convinced eBay will take away the positive feedback under any circumstance, if the buyer doesn't change it. So even if there is a return, until I see it, I don't think they will bother removing the positives. 

 

Seems like this whole thing is a drive to get sellers more feedback at any cost, under any means. So long as a buyer doesn't fiddle with it, seems like sellers will end up with feedback every single sale.

More + feedback means better ratings for everybody.  Makes the site look good.  
Not removing feedback lessens the labor load and saves $$$$$ (less people calling and whining).
More + feedback will make sellers so happy, they don't pay attention to the money saving reason.

I just received my first automated positive for something that sold on August 21st and delivered August 27th.  Didn't seem like they waited very long for the buyer to leave it on their own.

We now have 2 more for a total of 3, for orders placed on August 20th and 21st.

 

They are hidden by default when I view our own profile, but not when I view other user's profiles (which I think was reported previously).

I got a popup on my feedback to click "show automated feedback".   It doesn't seem to be sticky, though.

If the buyer hasn't left feedback, Ebay will leave the auto feedback after they can see from the tracking that the item was receive.  If at a later date the buyer decides to leave feedback, the auto feedback will disappear and the buyer posted feedback will replace it.

 

eBay automated feedback

eBay automated feedback is automatically added to the seller’s account when a transaction is successfully completed. This positive feedback gives other eBay users confidence in this seller and in our marketplace. We only do this if the following criteria are met:

  • You didn't leave feedback within 7 days of delivery (as confirmed by tracking)
  • We can’t see any indication of an issue with the transaction
  • Tracking shows the item was delivered on time

Automated feedback from eBay will remain visible unless there is an indication that there was an issue with the transaction, for example the item was damaged or you opened a return. If this happens, we will remove the automated message.

 

You can still leave your own feedback within 60 days of delivery, in which case the automated feedback will be replaced with yours.

Some good points, but some are likely not in play as well.

 

The feedback system has always been unfair to sellers in the respect that we were subject to being judged on our feedback numbers by ONLY those buyers that choose to leave feedback.  Whatever that feedback may be.  NOT by how many transactions we actually had, but how many feedback we would receive.

 

In the history of the site, buyers use to leave feedback more frequently that they do now.  Many sellers are running 50% and lower of buyers leaving feedback.  For me I'm about 30 %.  So those buyers that leave feedback control our feedback numbers.  That does not represent an accurate number.

 

So now, we will have feedback on all transactions, one way or another.  And buyers have more rights about their negative feedback, starting next month.  

 

It should all work out in the wash.  But only time will tell what the truth of all this will be.
